Wooohooo! first bike
I just got my ninja today, and yeah I'm super excited to ride it. It's still a bit too cold to ride yet though. I just had 2 questions. I have a rear stand, should i keep it on the rear stand for storage or the kickstand? And also what size are the bolts i need for the license plate? I don't have any pictures now and it is too dark to take any. I will have some up by tomorrow. Thanks for any help

I wouldn't store it on the rear stand. The kick stand is more than suffucient. It wouldn't hurt anything unless your rear stand sucks. It just isn't necessary.
Your bike should have come with bolts for the license plate. Talk to your dealer if it didn't.

Congrats on the bike!!!
I keep my bike on front and rear stands, even though I ride it at least once a week right now. It only takes a couple of minutes. Sorry cant help you with the bolt size. Pics of your bike!!!!!!

I think stands are preferable...I read somewhere that tires will rot if left on a surface for a prolonged period (I can't corroborate that though), but if you have a stand, USE IT!! (and do some maintenance while you're at it..like reversing the axle, lubing the chain..and so forth)
'congratz on the new bike brother...I remember and cherish the feeling. |

I'd assume the stand would tilt the bike's weight more towards the front, putting more weight to it over a prolonged time wouldnt be good. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Not sure about the size of the bolts, but I bought these anti-theft bolts and they work well. http://www.amazon.com/Anti-Theft-Chr...9799423&sr=8-6

You would be surprised. Folks who ride illegally (suspended license, no insurance, etc.) will steal your plate and use it on their bikes. If you ever find yourself a victim make sure you call the police and report your plate stolen. You don't want the FBI knocking on your door questioning you about a bank robbery involving your plate no. lol

Here are a few pictures, please excuse the quality, they were taken in a small, dark garage with a cameraphone.
The last picture is something I had a question about. There is a relatively large gap (.5-1cm) betweenn the end of the hand grip and the end of the handlebar, there is no gap on the left side. Is this normal or something to worry about? Also I like to lock the handlebars (makes me feel a little safer my garage doesn't lock) is it ok to have them turned while it is on the rear stand? it doesn't seem any less stable than with the bars straight. |

Mounted the license plate and took my first ride today, it was magical! Also bought myself a torque wrench, looking forward to doing some loving service on it myself.
