supposedly $140k bike, but can't ride for $hit. LMAO! should have invested in some track days or Keith Code's Super Bike school.
looks like the rider in front tried to point at a road hazard to warn him. should have paid more attention. |

What is theis 140k business? Is the op saying that bike was a hundred and forty thousand dollars?
If so, that is just ridiculous. He could have 3 used or 2 new desmo rr's for that much, and still have a bike or 2 left over when he wrecks hotdogging on mulholland. |

Looked like he just grabbed too much front brake when he saw the closure that had developed on the black bike ahead of him. He certainly wasn't anywhere near the cornering capabilities of that Ducati, was he?

you can see he was hard on the brakes based on how far his nose is down, then you can see he tries to turn in as he is heading straight for the side, but was still hard on the brakes... then he lost his front. i seriously doubt he grabbed a handful of brakes... he was just trailbraking too hard on the turn in... he is probably used to real tires not ****** DOT crap on a dirty road

Ducati 1098r modified to 1098rs Superbike Specs - FGR900 fork, TTXr 46 rear, Brenbo Calipers, race electronics, Magnesium wheels, All Titanium nuts & bolts .
From the rider " this is a 1198RS when I ride it on the street I put the street side and upper fairings for the lights and the front wheel I run on the street has stock rotors because they don't bite as hard as Superbike ones" "and yes just about every nut and bolt is in Ti as are the axel, handlebars, etc and the bike weight"

I see the rider in black pointing at something in the middle of the road, maybe the rider in red ran over whatever the dude ahead was pointing?
Anyhow, I don't see how that 1098rs could be a $140k bike, $40-60k at best. |

Apparently, it is a 125K track bike that had parts swapped with a second bike, which cost 35K. Not sure how that math works, but, okay.

After listing all the mods on his bike, he should have added "I did all these changes to make up for the fact that I can't ride for ****." Seriously, I blow through that same area now and again, and I've never once crashed. Maybe I need to be on a bigger/more expensive bike to crash out on the snake?

I think you guys are thinking of the Desmosedici RR which costs $68K+. Even with upgrades I don't think it'd top $140K.
Desmosedici RR vs The bike he crashed was and is a 1198. Let me pose for you on the 1198 I think I've seen this guy ride his Desmo on the track in C group. He looks to be okay. I really hope this crash has taught him to take it to the track.

It's not Desmo Dav, it is also a converted track bike. He used two expensive bikes, and combined them into one.

I agree with Nemesis. My 1098R race bike was nowhere near 140K!!!!!!...More like 40k race ready!!!!!!!...Oh and it is really easy to tuck the front on the Duck, the mono block brakes are insane!!!!!!!...Love em!!!!!

So I saw this video a few minutes after R put it up. I watched it about 5 times and still have yet to figure out what he did wrong. Anyone care to enlighten me as to what caused that low side?

Same as every other crash on the exit of that corner. Too much lean angle, not enough traction at rear wheel when throttle is applied.

My Monday quarterbacking. Looks like a combination of thing. Mostly increasing lean angle while accelerating. But also he unsettled the bike by re-adjusting his BP right before losing the rear.

@nickjpass: Someone posted on another thread of yours (about your 10G friend) how sensitive to subtle wrist movements the super sports are. I think this video might be a testament to that.
Watch when he's sliding... he looks like a spider. The guy in the white suit reacts to him like he's got arachnophobia too... does the AHH-spider-dancer. |
