I ran out of gas for the first time on the way to work today... On the freeway...
Luckily, I was close to an exit, bad news is I had to walk it up over an overpass to get to the gas station on the other side...

Well that sucks! What's the plan with your current bike. Feel free to crate it and ship it to me.

Well, i'm hoping to sell the whole bike. i don't have the time, patience, or storage space to part it out. From what the mechanic said, someone who knows how to work on bikes can do everything for about $300.
Also, since FL is below GA, it's all downhill, so i can probably just coast all the way to jacksonville. |

My ZG Sport Touring windscreen arrived today. I also placed an order for a new rear tire at Motorcycle Superstore. I ordered the new Bridgestone S20. Funny how the tread pattern looks like the Michelins.

I...
...rolled it into the dining room and removed rear wheel and all the body work on the subframe. I am preparing to install a GSXR rear shock, CustomLED taillight, Racetech springs, K&N pod filter and jet kit.

BREAK -IN- PERIOD ,,, DONE!!!!!
Oh and this was with my Wife's 2011 Ninja 250; she is 18 WEEKS (hahaha) Prego and ain't riding it right now! 1000 miles this morning !!!!! Decided to open her up on my way back home. Flat "Super Slab" real world driving conditions, got her up to 90 MPH 11000 RPMs throttle fully pined.... It was interesting -- and don't worry, the only reason I did it was because there were no cars anywhere around / fron / behind me on this section of Highway for awhile. So now that I got all that out of my system, I'll do another oil change and have some fun until the wife takes it back hahahaha Last futzed with by DemonRider; June 1st, 2012 at 04:03 PM. Reason: Bike used |

I rode to work for the first time!! 20 miles on backroads, 2 sweeping curves which were interesting..i was worried about them before leaving but they weren't bad at all.
Freaked out when I underestimated a different turn which was sharper than I remembered, but I didn't let off throttle or use brakes, just leaned further. I have leaned that much before but wasn't going nearly as fast so this was a bit frightening, especially with cars around me. Now in a few minutes, I get to ride home, this time with much more traffic. Wish me a safe journey back lol!!! |

It's a one off piece made from aluminum flat stock available at most hardware stores. 1/8 inch thick, 3/4 inch wide. I started by drilling a hole in the flat stock the size of the passenger peg bolt and then made 2 bends to route it around the rear brake hardware, lined it up to the bolt location for the exhaust clamp and drilled the appropriate size hole. I then moved to the second piece and followed the same procedure. If the pieces were straight you could just measure, cut and drill; but the bends (required to clear hard parts) make that difficult.
The good thing is that the material is relatively cheap and so failed attempts are not that expensive. I bought a 4 foot stick, whereas each "cut" piece is about 9 inches long so it gives you lots of room for error. Hope that helps!

I didn't use a buffer, just a lot of elbow grease. She was on the stand and i wrapped an arm over to the other side and hung like a monkey while I pushed and buffed with my right hand. It was exhausting, and was a contortionist's worst nightmare but it was worth it in the end!
