Yamaha on pole for 2012 Suzuka 8-Hours race

Japanese MFJ Superbike rider Katsuyuki Nakasuga sets lap record for Suzuka 8-Hour qualifying to put Monster Energy Yamaha YART team on pole; MuSASHi RT HARC-PRO Honda team second, Yoshimura Suzuki thirdMFJ (Motorcycle Federation of Japan) Superbike series Yamaha ace Katsuyuki Nakasuga turned an incredible lap in the 2:06s during the “Top 10 Trial� final qualifying session on Saturday afternoon at the famed Suzuka circuit in Japan in preparation for the Suzuka 8-Hours race tomorrow. Nakasuga’s lap of 2:06.845 set the circuit record for Suzuka 8-Hours qualifying, and put the Michelin-shod Monster Energy Yamaha YART (Yamaha Austria Racing Team)—consisting of Nakasuga and British Superbike champion Tommy Hill, with Nori Haga as the reserve rider—on pole position. Longtime Japanese Yamaha rider Nakasuga had previous stated earlier that he had been frustrated ever since being beaten out for pole position last year by 0.024 seconds by then-Yoshimura Suzuki team rider Yukio Kagayama, and wanted to make amends. The last time a Yamaha was on pole for the Suzuka 8-Hours was back in 2000 with Haga.
