Frame Sliders Suggestions?
Does anyone recommend any good frame sliders for a 2008 Ninja 250r? Preferably easy to install on my own. Thank you in advance

I have the Shogun carbon fiber sliders on mine. I can't speak from experience, but the previous owner put them on and said they were very easy to install. The bike has also been dropped once (not by me) and the sliders protected the fairings other than a few light scratches at the very very bottom.

Sato, They have the best design and are no-cut. They are very well made, but are not cheap.

Sato is terrible. The bracket is aluminum aluminum and will likely get destroyed on impact. Since AL likes to bend instead of crack, there's a good chance it would do additional damage to the bike.
Shogun sliders are the only sliders I would put on a 250R. The only thing you have to do is cut your sprocket cover.

For me the shoguns were the best, and I crash tested a different set I got off ebay that were terrible. The shoguns offer better protection because they have a cage-like design, and are very sturdy. I dont remember having to cut anything though...but dont quote me on that since I didnt install them. In my experience sliders save mostly your engine covers etc... in a crash at speed you will almost definitely get some rash up top or on your tail etc... for more complete coverage you would need a cage...and even then. |

Shoguns. Make sure to get the ones that DON'T have a cap on the end. I had the Shogun carbon sliders (which are very pretty..but not carbon, just have a carbon print on them) and the bike was crashed. The bolts on the cap were ground down enough to where I couldn't get the cap off without getting a bolt removal tool.

i would say the trex racing sliders. solid mounting and no cut design. relatively easy to install the bracketry, but exremely easy to remove and install the slider itself! crashed on them once at the track at 75ish mph. did not bend anything. Love em

A lot of people are telling me not to get the Frame Sliders with the cap on the end. I found these Shoguns, are these the right ones to get? If so, I'll be ordering today

Here's mine. As you can see, it is scratched from a stop and drop. It's not damaged enough to make the hex screws unusable, but I could see how it could happen. Leg us know how the install goes and remember to post pics!

I got the shogun 3 piece kit for my bike and its really easy to install. the only thing is that is says "no cut" but you"ll have to grind down your counter shaft cover to make the bar fit haha I found this vid to be pretty helpful, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkMK8D06MHo |

Frame sliders
Just go with T-rex sliders. They're extremely functional, good looking and inexpensive. They mount a little higher in the cut of the side fairing but are notched to compensate for the taper of the cutout. I spent alot of time searching and these are completely comparable to shogun, if not better since theyre way cheaper. They make the sliders, rear spools, adjustable kickstands and a few other things. All exceptional!

My experience with TREX ones are they are ok at protecting the frame.
Crash tested 3 times, 2 slow and 1 fairly quick on track crashes. They mount alot higher on the bike, so the sliders themselves are very long, causing alot of leverage when the bike goes down. The mounts will bend easily causing damage to the fairings, so you'll need to bend them back even on slow crashes. Not bad for the price. They kinda did their job. Now just need to find a way to not bend rearsets on crashes. |

Rearset issue
Do you really even need rearsets on a track? Remove the weight or build a brace that mounts between the sets. Trex also has an exhaust slider for right side crashes....

I thought you were talking about the "rear" sets not the lowersets.

Rearsets refer to the pegs and clutch/brake controls that the rider uses. The other pegs are referred to as passenger pegs.
