Powerball at $425M. What bike would you buy first?
Thread subject says it all.
If you're reading this, chances are one of the purchases you'd make would be your dream bike(s). Go. I'm thinking I'll start with this: |

HAHAHA I remember that Honda! I wanted one SO bad when I was a teenager.
I got to go to Bermuda when I was an early teen and was allowed to rent a moped (a Peugeot like the one above, if I remember right). I was totally hooked but intimidated by real motorcycles. That little 50cc Honda looked perfect to me. Never did happen. |

It's not about a particular bike at that point, as nothing would be unaffordable. But the first motorcycle-related purchase would be enough land to build a detached 5+ car + 5 bike heated garage, with car & bike lifts. Wouldn't be cheap, as it would need to be somewhat close to civilization to make it still usable every day. I'm not much of a collector, money or no, so the bikes themselves would be just enough to be interesting. Too many and they don't get used. I have 3 now, and at times have had 5 in the garage, and have never lusted for more even if they were free.
Dream garage: Sportbike: Panigale R, or the RSV4 Factory (once it's released with ABS) Sport touring bike: K1600GT Playbike: Ninja 300, silly! Adventure bike: 2014 GS Adventure, once it's released with the water-cooled engine from the '13 GS GT bike: ZX-14R Dirtbike(s): Don't know nearly enough about them to choose, but with unlimited time and money, it's something I'd expect to fix quickly

Which single bike? Hell I'd probably just buy the entire dealership... I mean, at that point, why the hell not?

If you want to grow to hate bikes, buy a dealership. A lawyer friend of mine did exactly that when he cashed out of his first career and thought owning a motorcycle dealership would be fun. He's not so into bikes (or retail sales, or dealing with the public, or employees, etc.) now.
It's happier in the long run to just get friendly with those that own dealerships. All the perks, none of the headaches.

My local Kawi dealer is a dump with a leaky roof.
They do have some pretty nice bikes in there, though. |

My dream bike is a Daytona 675R. Lucky for me they are not very expensive so I will buy it without the help of Powerball.
also, this just in, Powerball is now estimated at $550 million. Dream car on the other hand would be either 458 or MP4-12C |

I'd have a blast on one of these:
A Sym Wolf Classic 150 - based off the old CB125's...they re-badged it and now call it this. Upgrades: Front disc, halogen headlamp and digital ignition. Of course, I don't have to win the lotto to get one. However, I have no plans on getting another motorcycle anytime soon.

Step 1: sell current house
Step 2: buy slightly bigger house with massive garage Step 3: Buy any old school mid 90's Honda 600 Step 4: turn garage into a scene out of a racing paddock Being that I love tweaking anything mechanical, I find that new bikes are boring. It's so much better IMO to restore/rebuild and then step back and be proud to own YOUR dream bike done YOUR way.

If one must talk of "dream cars", make it good, and be specific. For example, Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera, a car you can't even find, let alone buy, from a showroom floor. Not even an Audi dealership.

If I were to win that much money, my first purchase would be a car. I already have a motorcycle. I need a car, maybe a small pickup because they're super useful. After that would be tuition. I need to get that payed off.
After those, I'm really not sure what I would buy. I'm not a showy person, nor do I really dream big about stuff like that. I'd probably totally renovate my parents' house for them as well since I know they've been wanting to do that for some time now. Oh and bicycles. Lots of bicycles. Bicycles for every occasion. |

Mmmm bicycles. I don't know what I'd do for a bicycle. I love my Gary Fisher, I have a cargo bike...I may upgrade the roadie to a Madone...other than that, I see no desire to upgrade my bicycles.
Meh, nah, I'd just upgrade the 1.5 to a new carbon front and shimano 105's all the way around. I may get a cyclocross bike...then again...maybe not.

After I get my new road bike in a month or so, I'll start thinking about MTB stuff. I think I may wait a couple years on that one though, I'm still really enjoying my Yukon, so there's really no need to buy a nicer bike. I might buy a new fork, but that's no biggie. |
