My recent pickup a 2004 FZ1
My new ride, I got this off Craigs list about 2 weeks ago, got her for 4K and she had 40k miles on her. I was shocked at how good of a condition she was in. He had the most impressive service record for a bike I have ever seen. Every receipt for every bolt he ever put on the thing. He did some nice mods to it, full yoshimura exhaust, carbon fiber panels and dash inlays, complete dyno tuned. Corbin seat and he threw in a tank bag, tail bag and a larger windscreen. I love this thing lol.

This also sadly marks my full retirement of being a ninjetter and makes me a full time EX. I sold my 250 I was going g to make a track bike to a friend. It looks like it will be at least till September till I can get on the track again and a friend was in need of parts more then I needed it to sit in my garage.

You are gonna miss the 250 each time you put your hands on the newly acquired 500 lb of metal and rubber. Best with the new Yamaha !!!

Great looking bike with some nice mods. I've read that many people prefer that 1st gen FZ1 to the 2nd gen. Enjoy

Only change I would ever make would be the Euro front headlight without fairings. Other than that, looks amazing

It seems that the 2004 FZ1 had an engine from Yamaha YZF-R1, which had 5 valves per cylinder from 1998 to 2006.

@SMman you are correct that a lot of people prefer the gen 1 over the gen 2 Fz1. I only test rode the gen 2 one but i can say i like the 1st gen better. Power seems smoother, feels as if it has more torque and the suspension is a tad bit better. it also gets better gas mileage. Though it can burn some gas lol. |

So after riding the Fz1 for a while, would you recommend this to someone as a second bike?

The physics of a bike with 300 hp are the same as those for a bike with 5. They are all operated the same way, you just have to cater your riding to the strengths and weaknesses of the individual bike. |

would go to a 600 sport first. An older fz6, 650r, sv650 then move up to a liter bike . You will be better off moving up in power that way then to straight up go to a 1k.
