Used Hyosung? lol, What's it Worth?

I never thought I'd be considering purchasing a Hyosung but hey, if I can get one for cheap for my brother to ride then why not? Only, I have no idea what they are worth. Its a V twin so thats lame but beggars can't be choosers. Anyway what would be a fair deal for this bike with a metric **** ton of mileage?

Was going to sell to a friend of mine in SF, but he's lagging on taking the MSF.

It's been very well maintained... currently has new chain and sprockets, fairly new Continental tires, fairly new brake pads. Been running full synthetic oil and had it changed recently. Also all valve work has been completed. All work done at SFMoto.
It has a Staintune aftermarket exaust, but it's not too loud. Still have the baffle for it just in case.
Only thing is that it has over 50,000Km on it, so about 30,000 miles. It's been my commuter for a few years now, so I've been riding it just about every day.
But, it runs great, and because of the high mileage I'm letting it go for cheap.
I paid cash for the bike when new, so I have clean title in hand.
Registered through September 2013 (just renewed it).
Would make a great first bike, and I also live close to Pleasant Hill.

(Sorry for the messy garage!)

I've had a few of these off-brand bikes. Some are junk, some are ok, none of them are great. Actually, the Hyosung 650 is probably the best of the off-brand bikes. It's not even remotely like anything by the big four, but they run pretty good and will run the twisties fairly well.

The biggest problem with them is that there is no anti-rust coating on anything, and they are notorious for getting a bit rusty in the hard to reach places if not maintained.

With 30K miles on it...thats a lot, and I'd bet that NONE of the regular maintenance was performed on it, because getting parts for them is a nightmare.

They make pretty good stunt bikes, mainly because they are cheap beater bikes that dont wreck the bank when you drop it. Also, they have a pretty torquey motor, and with the right sprocket setup can be lots of fun in a parking lot.

$800 would probably be a fair offer.

A buddy of mine got one; biggest piece of SH*T I've ever seen. At the firmest suspension settings it bottoms out when I sit on it, the frame is crap, the design is crap, it does nothing but break down week after week and last but not least it looks like caca.

Put a 350cc two stoke in that frame. You can get the motor from a Yamaha banshi. That would kick ass .

Not a fcukin hope of that. An entire dealerships stock of them wouldn't be worth that...

These machines may as well be made of cheese, they rust to bits, their electrics are beyond a nightmare, their suspension is ****, their engine is very poorly finished.

They're known as Hyodung for their litany of problems.

It's worth less than it'll cost you to tow it to a compactor.

I meant 1500 and 2000...don't know if that changes anything.

And they can't be that bad, Have you ever owned one?

I figured as much, that's why I said the entire dealer's stock (let's say 10 of them) wouldn't be worth that. You'd be looking at that money for a shiny new panigale tricolore with some extra tasty bits.

No, there were 2 options for reasonably new bikes that could be used to get your licence without having to restrict their hp & jump through hoops with the insurance companies where I'm from, the Ninja 250 or the GTR 250.

I formed my opinion from talking to lads who have them, being on runs where the same lads were supposed to go on but didn't show up due to mechanical issues & seeing bikes less than a year old covered in rust.

their main dealer has trouble keeping second hand ones parked outside rust free.

Remember, just say NO to Hyosungs.

Livings in small island, we get great sea storms and often the sea will come over the breakwaters on a good storm, a rust recipe.

I've seen ONE hyosung here, I can't say it lasted more than a year before the rust wrote it off, they simply don't sell them here any more because they are so terrible.
