Can anyone PS this idea of mine?
So I crashed and had to buy a used set of fairings for cheap. Catch is one side's really rashed up from a crash. I've had to fill some gashes on it but it was still sturdy and not cracked.
The rest of the fairings are blue -- '09 blue, whatever that is. I had to order a new tank, tank's black. So I really wanted to know what it'd look like to have a black gas tank, black side fairings, and the rest of the fairings blue. If anything, I'd like to just hear what you guys think about the idea. At first I was considering white. But if I had to do white, I'm thinking of painting the rest of the bike white then minus trim.

I'm thinking of doing this now after seeing what it'd look like originally.

EDIT: I don't know if it'd help but the front wheel fairing and grips are blue too....Nah, still way too much black. D:

If you're going to cover sections to try and balance it out you are better off using plasti dip to achieve that otherwise you're going to have bubbles, a weird color, etc. If you use plasti dip you aren't going to get that blue color. Maybe a white? Black, blue, and white isn't the worst combo in colors but it'd probably be better than the above image.

I'm hoping three four cans of plastidip can do the trick. I'm also considering plastidip gloss for durability and subtle shine.

Well, if you do the whole side fairing white you're still going to have a very abrupt and weird color pattern. If you don't do anything by tonight maybe if you're lucky i'll come up with a few patterns.

Oh dang. Okay, well then buying store spray gloss is definitely going to be cheaper. Thanks for the heads up.

No prob. Her bike looks awesome being white and pink (doesn't sound like it would be but it does look nice). I just left my black dipped areas the matte look and it came out looking great (IMO). I applied the plasti-dip first to see how it'd look and liked it so much I just covered it all with construction paper to paint and clear coat the rest of the panel.

If you do blue decals it could help balance the color. For me, I would go one base color and then decals. Gives the bike a more professional finish look rather than a piecemeal look.

Here is a random pic from the portal page:
Maybe you can get some ideas from this (or work with this)?

Okay these are some great suggestions.
So I'll definitely see what I can come up with regards to balancing the blue and black. Can't wait to get this started, I've kind of put it off after receiving my gas tank but since that's been placed on hold (as it sits with vinegar), I'm going to be filling it and repairing the side fairings then plastidipping it. I'm thinking all black but inner sides blue like on the post above this.
