Can't believe the cost of comprehensive insurance. Got quoted $4000 a year for a a bike worth $2500, WTF? And even then the excess is between $1000-$1400.

I'll definitely remember that when I tour Thailand via bike. For now though its a few years down the line. I wish rates in Europe were like that I'm finding that it would be cheaper to buy a bike and resell it than rent one. Which is a shame since I want to try out the Honda I4 650.

or test ride one at a dealership I would never rent a bike in europe or US because its crazy expensive. maybe see if there is a track school or something you can try one out at but traveling in thailand is so cheap I spent a month there and it cost me 2700 including travel insurance, flight, scuba diving, staying in hotels, eating out every meal, bus rides, motorcycle rentals and all kinds of things. I am spending almost twice that for a two week trip in the USA. I have to go to third world countries to afford things .... |

the new bikes are cool but they are mass produced products of convenience. getting your own bike, figuring it out, working out the bugs and learning its temperaments .... I love old used machines. much more too them-more of a challenge haha sorta like adopting crazy mutts from the kennel. more character and crazy personality twists. I get bored of peoples pedigree pure bred puppy purchases. yeah they make nice dogs... just less interesting and I digress. long day... embrace the madness. |
