I'm planning my 'last CA riding day' tomorrow, this is pretty far south for me to try and make (especially for the morning), but it sounds fun :-/ *thinkathinka*

i will leave carlsbad around 10:30am. i usually stop at the shell on via rancho pkwy/bear valley pkwy by the mcdonalds to grab gas, drinks and snacks (i like to sit at the view point on palomar a little while and enjoy the view) there's a starbucks in there, i'll go grab breakfast and hang out for 15 minutes or so before going to the next exit to hop on highland valley. if you plan on coming, pm me your cell number and i'll text you in the morning

there is honestly no other mountain around like palomar in socal until you get up by slo. malibu comes close but the view, my god the view from the top of palomar. there are 3 view points, the south grade, the north side, and the east grade. east grade looks out over the lake and you can see probably at least 6 or 7 miles for about 60 degrees. on clear days from the top of the south grade you can see the ocean. on cloudy days, you're above the clouds so you get this amazing view of little mountains peeking through the clouds. very surreal.

Thanks for the great tour of Palomar @alex.s @EternalNewb and I had a great time. We're reviewing the videos now, I'll try to cut them together to something interesting and post them up as soon as I can (moving may delay this a bit)

Super fun day! Thank you so much @alex.s. Pace was great, and you were a super considerate leader. The area was gorgeous, and I may have to do a ride report later, after I finish a couple others in my queue.
