Ducati Panigale 899

Just picked up my new bike today, I'm graduating from a baby Ninja to a baby Panigale. So far she still has only 1 mile on the odo since I trailered her home and has only been started once. My new baby Panigale:

I did however have a chance to ride the snot out of the demo which was equipped with Termignoni exhausts, a race screen, comfort seat, and numerous carbon fiber farkles. This bike is definitely a blast to ride and the quick-shift is stupid fun to use. Here's the actual demo bike I rode, as demoed by this polish-speaking youtuber (yes it's easy to wheelie):

baby panigale is best panigale, bike looks beautiful. You better treat her right

sidenote: I need to learn how to speak some eastern european languages. Russian, polish, and german all sound badass. Working on the german soon

edit: looking at it a bit more I realize that I really like the turn signals in the mirrors concept. It makes track preparation easy and it gives a classier, more streamlined look to the fairings.

Here's some help in learning the german language with an article about the problems of Ducati, enjoy it: http://www.spiegel.de/wirtschaft/soz...-a-965512.html

I don't know, I think it's pretty hard to go wrong when you pick up a sexy Italian supermodel!

They had a matte black 848 at my dealer for a good price but I just had to get the Panigale 899 since it's the bike I've been lusting after. Still, I had a hard time at the dealer when I saw all the Monsters, Diavels, and Panigale's to choose from. I kept thinking, maybe I want a Monster!

If I had more cash on me I would've bought the 899. I'll probably pick one up after I'm done with the 848. Although my "older" bike is starting to grow on me.

Me too bro me too. Dammit I should've emptied my savings. That bike looks like it hits way harder than mine when it hits the power band. Also the videos do NOT do the sound justice. The off throttle noises consist of coughing and popping. These bikes sound so cool when rolling off.

Thanks. I made it using a couple paracord tutorials. It's a round sinnet fob with a paracord bead. I had one for my ninja too ~ it won't scratch the tank.

I might make one at some point then, I typically use rubber key chains that don't scratch anything but I like the classy style that your sinnet fob has.

It's very predictable and confidence inspiring. I read a review that said this bike can flatter many different levels of rider, I would agree.

Congratulations! Very cool bike!

I have a 2005 Ducati SuperSport 1000. These Italian bikes have a sound and feel all their own. I love all Ducati's - I love my SuperSport the best. Here's a sound check video (notice the dry clutch sound) and photo of my machine -

Congrats! that's a bad a$$ bike. Those 899's are good for street and track, due to the extra low-end torque. OP are you gonna stay with the ninja forum or migrating to 899panigale.org?

We'll see, this place is more alive than 250R.net and most forums out there!

I'm looking to get a Panigale or keep it in the family as well with the zx6r in the future.

Thanks, I agree! I'll probably still check back here time to time. The 899 forum is still pretty much starting up but there are enough Ducati forums that talk about the 899 to keep me busy.

The only downside I've found for this bike so far is that it makes you spend money. I've already spent more on farkles and gear for the Panigale then I ever did for the 250 and it's been less than a month... oh well.

I definitely agree on, Italian bikes costing extra fun money. It's well worth the fun and excitement.I have to put my Super Sport dreams for a while, I want to buy a turbo for my other toy.

BTW, hows the handling on the DUC?

Hard not to go the FI route for cars... everyone is always surprised to see that my old beater corolla is supercharged.

I would say that it is very flickable, just like the 250. I have no issues leaning the bike with confidence, the only thing that keeps me from being more aggressive is the fact that I don't have pants with sliders but they're on my shopping list. But yes, it handles very well and from what I understand enjoys sharper steering even over the 1199 due to it's shorter trail and steeper head angle.

I'm sure there are many bikes that can outhandle her but she goes exactly where I point her and the steering is instinctive so from my standpoint I'm quite happy.

That's good to hear about the Panigale being flickable. Bigger bikes now a days are getting faster & much lighter. I could use a suit with knee sliders as well. BTW, how much higher is the seat on the Duc compared to the 250?

Do you have a corolla with a 4agze motor? I used the have a pumped up 89 Mr2 SC a while back, and few other mr2's. I have a miata right now and it grips great, but it's underpowered just like any other miata. I need at least 8psi of boost to keep me happy.

The seat is about 2 inches higher than the 250, probably about 3 inches once my comfort seat comes in tomorrow... Did I mention it makes you spend money? But it's nice and narrow too, I would guess that anyone 5`8" or taller would be able to flat foot it.

I have a 1ZZFE with a TRD charger installed by yours truly. My previous was an 89 Ford Probe GT turbo (Mazda MX6) running 20 psi

I have a 1ZZFE with a TRD charger installed by yours truly. My previous was an 89 Ford Probe GT turbo (Mazda MX6) running 20 psi
Nice I wanted that on my spyder. 20 psi is crazy, I had about 18-23 psi on my 93 MR2 Turbo stroker, but was not street legal, I ended up selling that money pit to pay for school. Thanks on the info about the Seat height. I'm about 5'7 with maybe 29'' inseam. I probably have to tip toe the Panigale, which is OK. Oh yeah, an Italian bike will make you spend the money specially if you need to buy gear that looks good on the bike.

Nope, got it at MCC in villa park. Although the girl from Motoworks I met at the February motorcycle show was pretty damn cool...
