SE green to international green conversion? List of part numbers?
My nephew is interested in a Ninja 300 ABS, which has piqued my curiosity again. As a 250 owner many times over, I'm really only interested if I can get ABS and the non-SE green which was never sold here. I talked with a local dealer who said he can order them if I can find the part numbers. I'm sure it will be expensive so, of course, I need to see the price to know if this is even worth pursuing.
First, I know any graphics on the 250 tanks were clear-coated on. Is that the case for both the 2013 and 2014 Green SE EX300? Next, I know most of the fairing graphics are removable, but are they ALL removable? If not, which aren't? I assume that all the graphics are stickers except the tank, so all this will take for a proper conversion is a tank and a lower (international non-SE green has a black lower). Is that right? Now, for a cheap conversion I am sure I can get a black lower from one of the other US color schemes and hide the mismatched tank graphics behind a tank bra, but that got me thinking: Does anyone make a bright green tank bra close to Kawi-green? I'm assembling part numbers now and will update this thread when I have them ready. Edit: This isn't looking good so far. Are the green SE side fairings, side covers, and lowers black with green graphics or green with black graphics? Last futzed with by CZroe; May 13th, 2014 at 06:33 PM. |

2013 SE green main fairings and underseat fairings are black with green stickers.
2014 SE green main fairings are green with black stickers. The nose and underseat fairings are black. Might be cheapest to buy a 2014 SE and then buy a green nose fairing since that's available from the 2013 model, then paint the underseat fairings with matching colorite paint since those parts are simply not available in green from US model bikes at this time. Or since you'd have to paint something anyway, then paint the tank and nose fairing too. Tank graphics are clear coated on. All other graphics peel off easily. The black belly fairings are easily available from any of the other ninja 300 models. I picked up some from ebay. Maybe this uk website could help you: http://www.cornwallkawasaki.co.uk/sh...INJA-300%20AEF |

The 2013 US SE Green tank part number matches the AUS non-SE Green. It's possible that replacements are solid colors and require ordering/installing separate graphics like many replacement fairings despite original having graphics under the clear-coat. Ordering it could be an expensive gamble. People report randomly getting graphics on replacement fairings so it all may depend on what stage of assembly the newly-manufactured parts were in when they were redirected to the warehouse as spare parts. I'm sure AUS riders don't want to get a tank with US SE Green graphics as a replacement, so the factory may have taken extra precautions. I think that either the AUS site I used had the wrong part number or they all ship in solid colors. Having different part numbers in 2014 may have been particularly to eliminate the need to take this precaution. Anyone getting a green SE tank replaced by insurance? I'd really like to know what your dealer/body shop gets before they might clear-coat it. |

For whatever it's worth, ColorRite lists "Lime Green" as the only green color for both the '13 and '14 300. That color is listed as manufacturer code 777, which is the same as the suffix on the parts you listed (just more credence that it's correct info).
It might be easiest to just get the factory-color paint and paint whatever is the wrong color. If you're completely anal about getting "100% factory correct" stuff for your not-actually-available-from-the-factory configuration, this isn't quite that. However, it should all match, and also gives you options that you can't get OEM (like clearcoating all/no decals or painting parts green that "should be" but were never offered in that color). Looking up stuff on Partzilla, it looks like most of the pieces are $100-$200 each. The tank alone is $590 MSRP, $450 on Partzilla. Lord knows I've spent way more than I needed to on things to make sure they were just right, but if you want real OEM, new parts, I think you're looking at a pretty good chunk of cash. It'll probably be cheaper to just have all the necessary parts (and maybe just toss in all the body parts to make sure they match perfectly) professionally resprayed to the factory color. |
