Are these rear tires okay???
I just noticed that my newly bought used ninja has a 140 / 60 /17 rear tire.
is that okay? The fronts are 110/70/17. is that going to change anything or make the bike unbalance? |

is there a big difference between 60 and 70?
enough to buy a brand new tire worth? also, could putting on a new wheel and removing the rim and all that cause the bike to feel wobbly? My bike feels kind of unstable and weird after I installed that new tire today. Could they have messed it up somehow? |

no noticeable difference.
new tires are more pointy then old tires and feel like they want to turn faster. |

anyone ever run a 150/70/17 tire on their ninja without mods?
could the tire feel weird because my front tire wasn't replaced and it's the bridgestone, but the rear is an indonesian brand called swallow. the threads are quite different. would that matter? |

feels like the rear is wobbly and the bike doesn't want to go straight.
the previous owner didn't replace the front wheel and just replaced with the rear wheel with another brand. the tires are literally like a day old and barely ridden on. the threads are quite different. do I have to replace both tires now with the same kind of tires? If so, would a 150/60 or 150/70 work? the 140 / 60 on my rims now look really small. |

My BT-003's 140/70/17 rubs the chain gaurd a little, I'll have to trim it when I run it on the street but other than the chain gaurd hitting I dont see it being a problem.
Just keep in mind more mass is never good on motorcycle wheels! |

ahhh okay, so maybe that's why the previous owner went with 60s instead of 140/70. okay. thanks for that info.

Well the 140/60 and 140/70's should be the same width, the 60 and 70 is a % of the width
so a 140/60 is 140mm wide and 84mm tall (60% of 140 = 84mm) and a 140/70 is 140mm wide and 98mm tall (70% of 140 = 98mm) Using a gearing chart theres a 5mph difference of top speed between the two as well. Figured I'd share lol |

so the difference between the 140/60 and 140/70 is like half an inch %thickness wise? therefore probably not that noticeable.. thanks a lot
so i guess, I'll just keep this tire, unless the threads are so different from the front tire and rear tire. |

As garth said, the first number is the width in millimeters. The second number is the section height, as a percentage of the width. The 140/70 would be 14mm taller on each half of the tire. Overall, the diameter of the tire should be 28mm (1.10") taller than the 140/60. In the US, the 250 has a 130/70 and the 300 has a slightly wider wheel with a 140/70 tire.

check rear wheel alignment. and make sure your forks are true. also make sure your chain isn't messed up, like a tight spot or something.
