Idle weird
B4 i could start up my bike it would hit my idle pre-set of 1.3k and stay there the whole time.
I had a mishap on a hill where after these happened but went away. rev up to 2.4k then when dropping it would slowly lag at 2.0 then go back down to idle. It would go slow. aka 8k revs going 20 in first. Those problems went away. But now when i start up itl go to idle. then drop down to 1k and go lower. How did that happen? |

okay, first, set the idle to 1500 rpm after the bike is completely warmed up (10-15 minutes of riding)using the black knob on the left hand side of the bike, below the black side panel. have you ever done that?

Like its always been fine. It would be able to warm up withought the choke. But now i have to use the choke to warm it up. Which is odd. b4 it would turn on. go to 1.3k stay there and not move. now it goes to 1.3k then drops to 1k |

the bike should not idle at 1300/1500 when cold w/o choke. if it did, you had the idle misadjusted.
like I said in my reply, set the idle speed AFTER the bike has been completely warmed up. Have you done that? If not, try that first. (pg 104 of your owner's manual) the idle spec is 1300 +/- 50 rpm, but most here set it at 1500 so it's easier to read/set on the tach. |

do it again... things change. if you can reset it back to the desired idle rpm with the knob, you should be okay, but do so only after the bike is completely warmed up.

Raf, the actual number (1300 vs 1500) is not important. Setting the idle speed, only after the bike is completely warmed up, is key.

b4 when i started it, it would idle up to the set speed and stay there withought any choke. after that hill mishap. where the revs acted weird like i described. when turned on it will go to idle then drop to 1k. Then when i give choke. let it heat up turn choke off it goes back to the idle setting. |

sorry to jack your post but I noticed that today my bike was idleing at about 1k rpms and I know that when I bought it it was set for 1300. Absolutely no mishaps but it hadnt been ridden for over a week before today. Is that normal, to just drop the settings?? thanks in advance.
