250 Gauge Cluster Issue
I have a 2009 Ninja 250 and it has a few issues, bought it as a minor project bike. I am starting with what is the most important. The gauges don't work on it. The neutral light, gas light, and high-beam light all work, but that is all. The tach, fuel gauge, back-lighting. I have not been able to take her down the street, so I am not sure if the speedo works or not. Where do I start? Could it be a fuse? Is it going to be wiring? Is it something I will be able to fix myself?
I have been turning wrenches on cars for years, did it for a living for a while, but I have never turned a wrench on a bike. I am not scared of a little work, the problem is that I sold my house and all my tools are in storage and I'm not sure what/where the tools are at my mothers, where we're staying until we can find another house. Any and all help is greatly appreciated in fixing my first issue. |

Check the fuses and the connectors first. Usually, this type of problem is caused by something simple like that. If those check out, you'll have to trace the wiring from the gauges to their sources. Shouldn't be too difficult.

I see you made it over. welcome, i'm sure you will find this forum to be full of helpful knowledge. if you don't find anything obvious, just make a list of things that could cause your issue. then test and eliminate what its not. that narrows it down until you find your gremlin. hurry, spring is here! no time to waste!!

Also be sure to check your ground wires as well.
Looks like you have a date with a multi-meter

Thanks for the help and the diagram. As soon as I have another free minute I will be out on the bike working. We are is the process of buying a new home, currently living with my mom and I don't know where all the tools are at this house and all of mine are in storage.
