Hmm. So some of you put non Ninja 250r fairings.
I got a 2010 250r with cracked/broken fairings. What other options do I have in terms of non-250r ones? |

I ordered EBC FA197HH sintered pads x2 for front and back for $25 a pair. A dealer beat out the best prices on the internet! I was like "Holy $#i+!" They will be here this weekend. Too bad the weather is so cold and crappy to ride in.

That radiator cover looks like it blocks a bit more airflow than I'd be comfortable blocking in warm weather. I'd rather install hex mesh than a perforated sheet (a bit closer to wire mesh but at least with a little more protective ability). |

regarding the radiator cover, yeah, at 1st i thought that this would block too much airflow, but now that ive used it for a while (over a year) it does not seem to impact the bikes heat too much. when im stuck in traffic i reckon it causes the bike to heat up faster than it did without it. but the fan kicks in and the temp stays stable. also as soon as i get a stretch of road to get some speed the bike cools down right away. the reason i got this one is because i was not able to find a hex mesh cover out of aluminium, they were all out of steel and painted. which will end up rusting! while this one is out of a single sheet of alu, and looks nice and clean. ive actually thought about drilling out the holes bigger, but its something i probably wont do till im really bored and have nothing better to do, haha

On Saturday I put my new rear tire on the rim, but I lost the air chuck so I couldn't seat the beads. > Luckily, after I adjusted my valves and modified my airbox, I put the tire/rim on the four wheeler, rode over to the neighbor's house, and he was there so he let me use his air compressor.
Then I went for a ride just before dark/in the night, saw a few deer and a a few pigs, slowed her on down after it got dark (blind corners+night+riding fast+new rear tire = disaster waiting to happen.), got my tire almost all the way broken in (I wasn't riding full on, it was dark and there were piggies). BUT, I washed my bike (to get the previous ride's trophies off), slipped on my CLEAN helmet (good idea... sort of.), got my mesh jacket with minimal bugs on it, a brand new Camelback full of water (that was gone in 10 minutes, 72 oz of water that fast, I had to pee like a race horse), my boots, a clean pair of pants and my gloves with no bugs. With all the bug references, I think you know where this is going. I left all clean and shiny, and 60 miles later I literally could not see out of my helmet visor. I had to slow down to 30 MPH where I normally go about 60-65, just because I could not see. My chest was covered in bugs, my knees/lower legs were covered in bugs, my helmet looked like I gave it a paint job, my gloves had bugs on them, my new Camelback's straps were covered in bugs, my bike was covered in bugs (the headlight was over 50% covered on bugs) when I got off of my bike, bugs fell OUT OF MY SEAT and my jacket was so bad that I had to first brush it off last night, brush it off this afternoon, then wash it off, and now it's hanging on my shower door drying off. I'm not sure if I'm going home next weekend (I have stuff to do for school...), but if I do: bugs, GET OFF OF THE ROADS OR DIE; or the last thing you will see will be a light, a jacket, pants or my face. I was covered in bugs so much yesterday that this morning my dad showed my stepmom my helmet from last night and she yelled out "Ewwwwwwwww! That's NASTY, clean that off!" Yeah, bugs are bad here in East Texas.

Within the past 2-3 weeks, installed replacement HID (ballast had stopped working), oil change, chain clean and lube. Next, install clutch and brake levers, clean and lube clutch cable, wash, maybe shim needles, install tires.

Funny you mention the tag placement. I just read an article in Cycle World or Motorcyclist (I forget which mag) written by a police officer. One of the things he specifically mentioned was sportbikes or customs with odd tag placements. Cops believe it's a just another way to make it hard to read at speed and will almost always get an automatic pull over because of it. I guess they figure, if someone is obscuring the tag, maybe their license or tag or insurance or emissions isn't up to snuff. In other words, usually an easy ticket. |

I was riding home from work yesterday and stopped when the car in front of me on the 163 freeway suddenly veered left, hit the median wall, went airborne, and landed upside-down facing traffic. I yanked my helmet off and tried to call 911 before running across but it was busy. By the time I got across all lanes of traffic the occupant was already out of the car talking to another bystander who did not witness it like I did but was doing a better job than I could at calming her down.
It seems that having a bike on the side prompted a lot of bikers to pull over because I suddenly wasn't the only one (about 5). They might have thought that I was involved because I was the only other vehicle stopped at first. The airbag did not even go off even though the car was in pieces and had just hit the wall head-on. Somehow she was on her feet and begging me not to call the authorities or medical services. When asked, she insisted that there was no one else in the car. I told her that she may have injuries she isn't even aware of but she wouldn't even sit down. I asked everyone to move away from what was left of the car in case a vehicle hits it and then called 911, this time knowing that they would have already been contacted by numerous people but I wanted to be on the line in case they had any instructions. When they heard that I witnessed it, they requested that I stay on the scene (I guess none of the other callers witnessed it happen). Considering the condition of the car (split open, front and back bumpers and contents all over the lanes, flipped over, etc) and the fact that the airbags didn't deploy, I could not believe that the only indication I could see of physical injury was a small amount of blood on her hand. Even so, I insisted that she sit down in case she has a concussion or internal injuries but she was standing when the FD got there and took over. Her battery AND spare tire were both out in the road, so you know the damage was EXTENSIVE. That's what I did. |

I was too tired to post about it while it was still "today." I kinda thought a Ninjetter would have seen me and posted to the "sightings" thread considering the amount of time I was out there.
As far as I could tell she was fine, which is truly a miracle. No one else saw the crash so they have no idea just how lucky she was. |
