The only time (IMHO) an O2 Bung is beneficial, is if you are utilizing a true "wideband" tuning platform (like the Dynojet Autotune module) that incorporates a Bosch type O2 Wideband sensor. These units allow a wide range of continuous sampling and a completely new tuning dimension. That being said, in can really depend on your particular parameters to determine if having a real time Tuning platform is something that can be truly appreciated. |

Fuel Moto Pod Tuning, Ninja 300
Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to update everyone on the current pod tuning at Fuel Moto. The test bike arrived on July 10 and will be there for at least two weeks. There will be no data available if you contact Fuel Moto. All data will go through Kerry at Area P. Please don't contact Fuel Moto as they will not be relishing any information. I will be the main point of contact through Kerry with updates that I will post only through the ninjette site. If you have any questions feel free to ask me. I will help you to the best of my knowledge. Thanks, David |

Well I guess technically it is "released", then it can be "relished". Either way, it's all good.
R&D on Airbox delete - Pod Mapping/Tuning has begun. Tigerpaw's bike shown at the Fuel Moto facility. Baseline data has been taken. Now begins the POD install with the system that Tigerpaw chose - full standard mount system with long quiet stainless steel muffler. We will also be installing our Solo slanted "A" mounting bracket for his system and removing his passenger pegs (as requested). After R&D Mapping on this set-up, we will move to the Ultra High Mount system. Stay tuned! |

Kerry,
Will you be experimenting with any intake runners vs sticking the pod on directly on the throttle bodies? It looks like you have a couple inches there if you'd choose to do so. I'm curious whether you think it will make a significant difference or not. |

Airbox delete/POD Filter R&D
Testing on the Airbox delete/POD filter additional mod has been completed at the Fuel Moto facility. As expected () we have attained the original goal of reaching 40+ HP with the Area P system and FI Micro Programmer. The new mapping that Fuel Moto created is outstanding with this mod. They are absolutely, bare-none, the best in the industry. Available exclusively for Area P/Fuel Moto FI Micro Programmer customers. Special thank you to "Tigerpaw" for loaning us his bike for this R&D phase. You're getting back a very strong runner and we hope you enjoy the full VIP/NC package in return. Enjoy.
"Tigerpaws" baby Baseline run all stock. Area P Standard Mount System/Long Quiet Core Muffler Area P Ultra High Mount System/Standard Muffler All runs combined |

now that is a smooth graphic, what is more interesting to see is that it doesn't have the dip at around 8-9k like your other graphics like so
so that is like a 1hp for long quiet cores and 2hp for the high mounts thanks for your work and research Kerry |

I lifted the front wheel on mine yesterday shifting from 1rst to 2nd while accelerating hard.
Today I did another wheelie from a stop. I let out the clutch at about 4k rpm and it easily lifted the wheel.

...proof? I have a hard time believing that, unless you're keeping the throttle pinned and slipping a ton of clutch on upshifts.

I don't have a good clip right now. Hopefully I can get some better video today or tomorrow. I'm still testing a new camera mount I got.
But... here's a clip of a little "acceleration test" I was doing the other day. It wasn't a very good launch, and you really can't tell from the video, but the front wheel did lift just a little when I shifted into second. That's why the handlebars shake a bit, cause the wheel came off the ground,... and this definitely wasn't an all out run.

Yeah, I went out today and there was traffic everywhere. Hopefully I can find some open roads and get some better runs in this weekend.

Kerry did you all happen to see how much just a tune w/o an exhaust will open the bike up?

Has anyone with the tuner brought their bikes in for the ECU recall yet? Just wondering what to expect. This won't affect the tune I wouldn't think.

I've been riding 2 days now with the Pod filter + Area P + Pod Tune and it's been quite nice but I have noticed that, particularly when cold, if I close the throttle at speed and engine brake I get some 'popping' that sounds like a backfire. Could I need to have my tune dialed in more? Maybe some part of my install needs to be rechecked?

Had to log in to respond to this one. On the 300 under intense acceleration I often lift my front wheel shifting from 1st into 2nd, depending on the method used. I'm not talking a huge wheelie or anything, but the suspension unloads and the tire probably gets around 6 to 12 inches off the ground for a couple seconds rolling into 2nd gear (no steering til the tire touches again.) It does involve a lot of throttle but definitely not 'pinned', more like keeping it at 7-9k, and not really slipping the clutch a ton but a minor amount. It helps that I am not a heavy person also. I've had it happen to a lesser extent doing no-clutch shift from 1st to 2nd. This is with the area-p mapper installed but only stock exhaust and intake. I've got the full system but have not installed yet.

So if it barely happened in a no clutch shift, but more on a clutch shift, that means you're essentially doing a clutch up...
Not to be cynical, but I'd have to ride it on my own to believe it can do a true power on wheelie. Seems to me that your description is from clutching up and not doing a smooth clutch less shift. |
