Just imagine the army response to me calling my ruck sack a bookbag. It's all I've ever called the things. Kinda like the buggy at the grocery, I don't think I have ever said shopping cart without being corrected for not speaking correctly

Wait, what? WTH is a buggy? It's a cart! Buggy's a baby thing, or a sand dune toy.
On topic, I tried fixing my accessory fuse box and fudged it up more so will be getting a Fuzeblock soon to properly and cleanly hook up all my gizmos. Need to solve the radio interference I am getting from one of the USB plugs. Grrrr

finally began my streetfighter conversion.
headlight and blinkers arrived in the mail today, so of course I neglected every other aspect of my life and started fiddling with the bike. I took apart the stock gauge cluster and made a new housing for the speedometer and the engine temp gauges out of canned food cans (and had dinner while i was at it). It was supposed to be a quick fix to keep me legal while I decide on either a digital dash or a chrome older style speedo, but I actually really like the look of it. gives it a ratty charm. my overall plans are largely based off of this guy's project http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=117501 particularly the rear end. |

Cleaned and re-oiled the air cleaner and installed all new sprockets and chain. I got 15,000 miles out of the last set and although the teeth look like they are in great shape the chain is stretch out of spec. I guess I could have just changed the chain only but I'll got a scottoiler going on Friday and I wanted everything to start new at the same time.
Also checked my rear brake pads and I've still got about 60% left on the originals 36,000 miles later |

Detabbed the rear frame. Removed the most rear fender and cut off the sidewalls of the inner fender. Played around with the stock taillight and the blinkers I ordered off of amazon, but I caved and ordered a smaller led taillight. Cut the side fairing.
I also went to home depot and picked up some supplies for future modding. I took some steel wool to the muffler, which had some tarp melted on to it, and it's absolutely magic. There still a bunch left, but I can't believe how well it works. Spray painted my ghetto speedo black, and it looks much better, but I've already placed the order for a trail tech vapor. I reaallly don't want this to be just another diy bike. I'm determined to make it beautiful if it kills me. new brake calipers and a steel line arrived in the mail, so that'll happen soon. Also ordered some dyna beads since I'm not sure I balanced the wheels properly when I changed the tires. lol long day. |

Put the old chain back on after it derailed/unseated when I hit some large debris coming home. Thanks CalTrans. Now looking for a good chain tool and hoping I don't screw up my first chain & sprocket change.

I was reading up, and I'm under the impression I need a chain tool to press the masterlink/rivet it, though I could be mistaken? Sadly, I'm in southern California, otherwise I'd volunteer my bike and whatnot.

Making friendly with riders is awesome. Scored an epic deal on a MPG Growler for the bestie. Helped her install it on the 250. Sounds sooo much better than stock. And the weight difference, holy moly. Never ceases to amaze me how stinking heavy stock exhausts are!

@rojoracing53, I love seeing pics of your bike cause you do things that give me ideas for mine.
Didn't realize the reservoir would fit there. Thought the side panel was flush against the interior. I may have to move mine since it's taking up trunk space. Are the knobs for the heated gear easy to operate up there? Been debating on getting a permanent install over the portable one I have but wasn't sure where to mount them that would be easy to reach and not have the LED blinking away in my eyes. |

I trimmed away a bit up the inner lip to get the cover to clear, I can't even tell once it all on.
The heater knobs are super easy to use up there and the lights are not annoying at all. As for adjustments with knobs while I ride, I have done plenty in the last but these day I just running both on max because it never seems to get to hot. I need a BMW with mega power output for all my electronic accessories. |

and is it just me or do you have rearset adjusters on top of rearset adjusters? seems odd and perhaps not the best setup? no? why?

That's all part of one kit and I need the extra distance back so when I push the shift lever down it won't hit the rod the holds the spring for the kick stand. If you look at the pic the orange shift lever is pointing right at the rod. This extra distance back also make the bike feel much closer to my Yamaha race then what most of the 250 racers are running. The rearset themselves are just cheap Chinese imports but look kinda cool and they gave me the position I was looking for. Eventually(been saying this for two years now) I'll make my own simpler single piece none adjustable rearsets to match the position of these. |
