I know I know :/ Apparently the 550 carbs are sensitive to air turbulence. Meaning pod filters won't work well, if at all. If I want to use pods, I'll need to get a CB650 carb.

Oh and before when I said I got 99-02 forks, I meant to say 99-02 R6 forks/tree. Where would I go for someone to work on metal with a lathe?

Alright. That's probably not for a while anyway. Gotta get it back in working order before I start upgrading.

Well, I lost my ignition key. Mere hours before I wanted to go get it copied with two blanks I paid $12 plus shipping for. My ignition thing is now free-spinning and I can push the wires around and make it come on.

Time for a new ignition set and another week setback.

Why it when to Canada? I have NO idea. Hopefully it was logistics, and not just a screw-up >>;

we dont read the actual from and to labels.... next time when u get a fedex package look at the fedex shipping label and youll see two letters or numbers which is the shipping option/delivery date and then the 4 letters of the IATA code (HNLA=Honolulu, MEMH=Memphis)

I was reading the tracking # info, and it was from UPS. It didn't say the state.

Hey everyone,i just did an oil change yesterday and i just read kkims diy on oil changes and he uses a wix fiter that comes with the orings that are on the base plate of the oil filter. The oem filter does not come with these.

i did a little research and found a place that sells them for $4.70 each, but shipping is roughly $30-35....i just did a little pricing out and found that if a couples of us could get together to buy in bulk it bring down the cost down per filter

If we order 10 its gonna 49.70+29.23 shipping=78.93 total but per filter its 7.90
for 20 its gonna be 99.40+34.28 shipping=133.68 total but per its 6.68

Oem filter costs $10.99 from south seas w/o the o rings

you can get them from napa for pretty cheap. that is where i used to buy mine. i don't remember the price, because it was a while ago. they may not have it in stock, but i went in and they had it transferred to their store from the warehouse the same day.

it came with the o-rings too iirc. i just had to pick up some crush washers from the dealer.

My key has been on Oahu since the 27th. BETTER be here tomorrow. If it is, I should be able to ride. But I still need to do the valves (can't until I can get gas tank off).

lucky you, my bike is still down waiting on parts.... i ordered all my gaskets
on friday assuming i still had the CCT gasket since i didnt need to adjust the valves last time, but just so happened I lose it over the course of a couple months so i need to wait a bit longer now

i did get to redo some of my wiring for my Hotbodies undertail kit and my daytona temp gauge, looks pro now with wire loom and all the connections are hidden now.

if anyone needs help on doing the kleen air delete i have some pics of it done and the exact parts i bought from oreilys, its like $8 and a couple zip ties...

I even did some corrosion control had a little bit of rust on some of the welds on my frame so sanded them down and paint over the bare metal.

Doing some hardcore maintenance now that my bikes almost completly stripped

Haha yeah. But it took a LOT of TLC (and more money than I cared to spend) to get it to run, but that just adds to the feeling of accomplishment. The PO didn't take care of the bike The carbs were atrocious, the clutch and throttle cables were stretched more than a celebutante, the battery was old and worn out, some wiring was messed up, etc. But it feels good.

Speaking of wiring.. I took the headlamp off, and behind it was a MESS of a million wires wired badly. I'm not looking forward to dealing with that.

Hey, Kenji if your can do your valve adjustment successfully then hit me up. I will pay you for your time if you're interested.

I got my last valve adjustment at Montgomery Motors and they held my bike for a couple of weeks. I am not mechanically inclined.

Thanks for the reply. +1 about work especially with the "paradise tax" in Hawaii, gotta pay the bills. I definitely need to think about getting a car as another way of commuting because it's been raining often lately. Major reason why I sold the R6 in April because it was raining nonstop and I felt like an idiot for having 2 bikes and no car.

Glad my valves are so easy to adjust SOHC and exposed engine.

No amount of ease will make me un-lazy enough to do it, though.

Still need to do that and work out the carbs. Almost have it idling without choke.
