it really started fading in the summer heat,
the only way to prevent that is to use type III anodizing or paint it.

I have ordered the woodcraft clip-ons, I was wondering about the bar ends that come with them, are they just plastic plugs that you can pop out? Or am I going to have to do something special to get them off ?

My woodcraft clip-ons should come in today. I was thinking about getting some weighted bar ends for 'em but wasn't sure what would fit.

Well I just got my woodcraft clip-ons in today and upon opening the package I see they included their 2013 catalog which is nice.
Flipping through it I see they are now offering "Woodcraft Solid Bar End Sliders" for 2013. Quote:

Okay, so apparently they were on back order and I finally got them when last night. I was able to mount them with no issues, but I'm having a tough time getting at the inside bolts of the split ring clamp. My T handle allen wrench just wont fit in there. I will probably just take off the gas tank to allow some more room.
Also, did you guys use blue locktight on all the fastners? |

I used blue loctite and would recommend you get an allen head socket for the job.

I am actually in the process of installing mine as well.
I put blue loctite (thread locker) on the 3 bolts (x2) the instructions mentioned that attach the riser to the fork clamps. Also I found that a simple allen key gave me the best clearance. A full blown socket wrench definitely would not fit when I was trying to use one. Just hand "snug" the bolts with an allen key.

I've been curious to know something since I received my clip-ons. I thought they were supposed to be all black but mine look like they have a bit of a different hue to them. Like a slight purple tint.
Are they supposed to look like this?

I could be wrong and am just talking out my butt, but are they an anodized aluminum alloy? If so it is not uncommon to see slight color variation from batch to batch.
Mine are definitely not true black but i think they are more black than yours. My WC rearsets are definitely more true black than the my clip on clamps. |

Mine came in true black but now have faded to i guess a slight purple tint. The parts most exposed to the sun though are orange now.

Interesting... Maybe now they come "pre-faded" lol.
They actually look pretty cool mounted on the bike. They standout, but very subtly.
