The one day I was actually able to ride, it was pouring. At stop lights I couldn't get it into neutral to adjust my shirt that rode up underneath my jacket, so I had the wettest underwear ever.

Packing an extra set of clothes is easier than packing rain gear IMO. Plus it's a lot easier to change clothes when you get to your destination than it is to pull over and don your gear if it suddenly starts pouring.

And Oahu is small enough not to really have to worry about the extra fatigue and discomfort from being wet.

But that's just my opinion. I hop in the jeep when it's raining >>

Got my bike running (almost) properly. The thing that made the MOST difference was the breaker points adjustment (no electronic ignition). I got it idling at 1200rpm, but with the choke fully on. Still won't run without choke, even though I have the stock airbox. I do have an aftermarket exhaust, BUT they claim you don't need to rejet. I'm going to try and move the jet needle down one more to max, and HOPE that it'll richen up enough to run without choke.

Anyone have a compression tester?

I bought a manometer (carb sync tool) that has 4 gauges (can be used for 2, 3, or 4 cylinder bikes) and should be getting it soon. So if anyone needs one for their carb sync, let me know.

Good luck with the sale. For some reason 250s have worse resale values in Hawaii than the mainland (I don't know why). People in the mainland buy it cheaper than us and sell it almost as much as they got it. People in Hawaii buy it more expensive and sell it for much much cheaper than they bought it for.

had the threads not been merged i made a little rant about that..i paid 6000 out the door, got a SICK deal for hawaii ... when i put it on craigslist..its hard to sell against the military brats and deployed people who just want it gone and put it up for 3500 or less....even harder when the bike has all the good stuff on it already.

Put the bike back to bone stock. Part out the extra goodies on craigslist, ebay, ninjette forum. You would think that a bike with extra goodies would fetch a much better sale price than bone stock, but it's not as high as you would think. Also some people prefer bone stock because they get the impression that the bike has been touched less by human hands.

What mods do you have on your bike?

i have stated that as well, pretty much common sense. no power mods down.

just the stuff you want..shogun frame sliders, adjustable levers, HID kit, i also have a pipe..not on...and a full roaring toyz lowering kit, but it's at stock height and i have it all in boxes, etc.

all stock parts come with it. regardless, like most things in hawaii...it sucks.

Those are some tasteful mods. Anyways, sorry for the situation. Just keep putting the ad on craigslist and renewing it every now and then. Someone sooner or later will want to pick it up. Especially when they find out that the Ninja 250R has been unchanged since 2008 with the paint schemes but the dealer still has the balls to increase price every year. Might want to sell it before Kawasaki jumps on the fuel injection wagon. That would make our bikes obsolete : |

Haha nice. I've left a couple notes, didn't get any new members though :/

The issue I'm having is that I'm getting low vacuum from carbs 2 and 4, and I cannot figure out why. I have good compression, good fuel flow, new jets, stock airbox, non-performance headers/muffler, and properly adjusted valves/timing/ignition. Everything points to working properly, but it just doesn't want to.

Oh, and the fact that the float bowl gaskets are o-rings, but the float bowls are pentagonal, and the groove for it isn't deep enough to keep the gasket in place. Buncha geniuses .-.

Woooooooooooo!

It lives. FINALLY.

Ended up syncing the carbs off the lowest pressure carb, and they ended up really even. Superglued the gaskets in place (just a tiny drop in each corner, nothing that'll affect the gasket).

I'm not sure, but I MIGHT be having a vapor lock issue now for some reason, but I still have to do more testing. Hopefully it's nothing and I didn't have enough gas in the tank to provide enough pressure or blah blah blah.

[Edit]

Nevermind. Turns out I forgot to put the manifold screws back in after taking out the brass tubes from the manometer. And I think a spark is leaking again.

^ Nevermind about that now. Some idiot cut me off AND slammed on his brakes on the H2 this morning (when the roads were still slightly damp from last night's rain), and I lowsided at about 40mph. This happened to be in front of about 4 motorcycle cops that responded to a fender bender. They were kind enough to help me pick up my bike and check if I was okay. Too bad they couldn't do anything about the jerkoff that cut me off. Good thing they also didn't require a crash report, as my insurance card was with all my title/registration papers for when I went to register it this afternoon -.-

Yeah I'm good. Normal soreness from rolling around at 40mph. Only skin injury is a friction burn on my arm from the pad in my jacket.

At first it seemed like just cosmetic damage except for the mirror shattered, but after letting it sit in my garage it seems to be dripping a little bit more oil from the oil pan than it did before. Hopefully it's just the gasket needing replaced, and not a crack. The clutch lever broke at the pivot screw, but thankfully I had a replacement on hand. After doing a functions check, seems that the rear turn signals and horn (both on the left controls) aren't working, so I'm going to have my dad help me check it out.

It's pretty crazy how just sliding across the highway can grind down so much metal. The turn signal is probably close to having a hole in it now lol. Oh, and my visor for my icon helmet got scratched to hell (thankfully the helmet is nearly untouched), but just goes to show you my cheek would be ground beef if I had just a brain bucket on.

Other than that it's completely rideable, except the plug wires are cracking and arcing on to the engine. Definitely cuts the low end (<4k) power by a lot, but mid and upper end doesn't seem to be affected. This has been going on since I bought the bike though, not from this morning.

But thanks for the concern man. Seems like I'm just an unlucky kinda guy.

Anyone on the island living close to a waterfall?

Ride out to a waterfall, snap a pic and post it in the Picture game please, folks in the mainland think a fountain is equivelant to a waterfall.. some have no clue what the word 'waterfall' means.

Well, I got back on the road today. Replaced my clutch lever the day it happened, and got the rear turn signals back in working order. The crash broke killed the bulb on the side it went down on, and managed to break the wire on the other side. The horn still doesn't work, but I think it's a ground issue.

Replaced my plug wires, and it's 100x better. It doesn't stutter and arc the sparks at <3k now, and I can even ride at 1500rpm without issues. I'm still using my old plug boots until my new ones come in, so I'm 99% done.

I'm definitely up for a ride now
