I placed a screwdriver and a set of pliers in the little box under my passenger seat. Not secured. Just placed inside. Well... the pliers moved out of the box and now I feel like an idiot for putting them there to begin with. Gave me a reason to try out my new rear stand, pull a bunch of fairing to look the bike over and find these pliers while I'm at it.
They made their way down to the battery box. They wouldn't have gotten past that point. In other news... my air filter is GROSS! Putting that on my short list. |

The lean sound and rich sound are very similar in the low revs and the bikes modest power doesn't do you any favors when trying to butt dyno. I have been riding for a few days now and still cant make up my mind if my 1/4-1/2 throttle is rich or lean despite various tricks and tests Ill raise the needles first just to be safe but I am also leaning towards the bike is lean in that range. I kinda wish the top end of the revs had more tuning capabilities, like another circuit from 11.5k and up as if your WOT feels good from 9-12k then it gets lean at 12 and beyond. If your good from 10.5-13k then your rich below at WOT Like I said, ill raise my needles but after that im off to the dyno

^^^ you going to just do WOT runs, or are you going to try and do some partial throttle stuff too. The thing that kills me about tuning carbs vs FI is that I can see EXACTLY what cells are being populated on the FI tables and adjustments can be interpolated to the other cells.
Since the carbs are vac dependent to me its a lot more difficult to identify what needs adjusted where at part throttle.

^ I can get a few runs for a few bucks so I figure one WOT run, and at least 1 run using partial throttle to get a sense of A/F ratio for those throttle positions.
I've been knocking around the idea of dragging my friend and is stock N250 to the dyno place as well and paying to get a baseline run with his bike to at least give me an idea of what my bike is looking like power wise. Would be nice and give greater meaning to my torque and hp numbers but I need to talk to the dyno guy yet and see what he has to say.

I ride with earplugs on the freeway....and pretty much only commute by freeway so I wasn't hearing anything until they were long gone.
I am banking on needing a new rotor, we'll see how these feel. I mean, it's pretty smooth but it's kinda got a lip on the edge now and I'm 99% sure it's warped by this point. I can't afford a new new one so I'll probably pick up a $15 used one off ebay. Gonna keep a closer eye on the wear of the new ones. Keep up with your pre-ride checks, kids.

You can get by with new pads for the time being until you can get a new rotor, the new pads will not last as long but will get you time to get a new rotor.

Yikes. Yeah, I think the guideline for replacing a rotor is when it has a pronounced lip at the edge.

Bled my brakes. Lever feel is much better. I use a syringe, some hose, and a clip to apply vacuum to the fluid before bleeding it through my system to get all the little bubbles out. The result is a much more solid lever with the stock MC and caliper.

well, **** me in a circle
walked like 10 miles to get brake fluid. It was 93 degrees. Got sunburn on my **** and tan lines from my bag strap. it was too hot to change during the day Started like an hour before sundown. long story short I think there is just a shitton of air in the line because the pedal is just giving me no resistance. Got too dark to try to fix tonight. Didn't attempt the front, thank god. Still have at least one working brake for tomorrow's commute.

Lapped the valves. Exhaust side was in dire need of some attention. Thinking all that carbon build up left some pitting on the seats. Didn't feel like porting the heads so I left them as-is and cleaned up the exhaust side some more.
Deburred the poorly quality controlled Wiseco pistons and installed them. Will check valve clearances and than clay the pistons. Hoping to fire this motor up and be tap and knock free! @NevadaWolf, I'm on the hunt for the 300 exhaust!
