Pics of me
Here are some of me nothing great, just a few pics. You can see plenty of other posts with the Ninja.
So I thought I would share of a few of my other toys. The Wolverine at Eldorado Dry lake Just out side Boulder City NV, The CRF at Griffith Peak - Mt Charleston, The Shadow preparing for a cold Early morning Ride from Vegas to Beatty NV for breakfast. A picture of me in Death Valley where I rode the CRF out to a mining camp, representing the My2Wheels group of Nevada. Me with the pig I named Bacon at Bonnie Springs out side Red Rock. I got some of me from my Team Oregon Rider skills Practice class I took over the weekend.
IMG_8789.jpg.jpeg Just sitting on the bike waiting for others to do a course they had set up IMG_9487.jpg.jpeg Another on the bike just no sunglasses lol IMG_6133.jpg.jpeg I had to be an idiot with the Official Team Oregon helmet. I will have a better one when I get my own bike IMG_3843.jpg.jpeg I was getting ready to ride the course so I wasnt paying attention. Also I want to note this is not my riding gear. I dont have any yet since I dont have a bike. once I get a bike I will get good gear to wear this is just for Team Oregon, had to have gloves eye protection a long sleeve shirt full pants and boots that cover your ankles but so now I can be a part of this tread at any rate lol

@Akima: I was just trying to keep it mysterious like you did with your pic lol.
@Nick: I dont think I'll be keeping it under that. I think I'll do the method a lot of other riders talk about, just a lot of engine breaking and vary the RPMs. Florida traffic is a lot of stop and go, slow driving stuff. I'll try keeping it as low as possible but from what I read, riding to get where I need to go wont hurt. (Correct me if im wrong people lol.) @Johan: Thanks! Its the Shoei RF-1100 Hardon <- I think thats what the style is called. Its great airflow wise. You should see it in person, the metallic flakes in it makes it look way cooler. I think the mirrored looks pretty crazy too. |

Ride it like you stole it. Just keep it off redline. Glad you got it home before the rain. When you going to be looking to go for a ride?

Florida cool. I lived in Miami for a few years while in college. And I regret not reading my manual the first night; it says you should keep it really low the first 1000 miles. Having fun? I love mine.

@Joseph Thanks. And hopefully soon. I think I'll be on the road next week, so probably a week two from then. I'll really try to get up to steak n shake eventually if yall are still doing that.

Nothing serious. I had it serviced at 750 and I'm thinking a new engine at a high RPM 'caused high heat; probably minor internal scratches. I'll have to use a thinker oil. Any concerns/thoughts? I love the white and miss FL.

It would be a pretty boring ride to keep it under what the manual says. 4000RPM for the first 500 miles or something like that.
I tried that one day, kept the bike under 4K, pretty much impossible unless you want to be crawling. 4K RPM in 6th Gear was like 30MPH. Most of the streets around me have speedlimits of 35-40MPH so that just isn't possible unless you ride 500miles around your block. Also, if that is what your supposed to do, warming the bike up with the choke would break that rule. My bike idles at 4.5K starting out with full choke on a 50*F day. Slowly goes up to ~6K if I forget to turn it off after a couple minutes while gearing up. As long as you don't hold it at red line the bike will be just fine. Vary the RPMs while riding and give it plenty of time to warm up. |

^^ yeah. Another forum member mentioned she set the limit for her at 6k, which get her to atleast 50. i think thats a good idea and what Ill end up doing.

I think it served me well riding so slow in my first months. Decreased the chance of me crashing. It was a great feeling when I passed 500 miles and could then go up to 6000 (I allowed myself up to 7000). I've now only just hit 1000 miles so I've got more fun to come. It's been kinda nice gradually being given access to more power. It's like getting 3 new bikes, each one more powerful than the last. Next summer I'm thinking of installing an Area P full exhaust system, stickier tyres and a few other performance upgrades... so that will be my forth bike! |

Meh. I rode my bike kind of easily. Stayed off the interstate until ~250 miles. On my way home that night I pushed it to see how fast it would go. Got to 100MPH and then slowed down and cruised the rest of the way home around 75-80mph.
Now I have over 4000 miles on it and it still runs flawlessly. I had the 600 mile service done at the dealer so they could check everything for me and I haven't had any problems yet. |

I have read some interesting things about the ninjette break in thing... there is a website saying that if you follow the manual it is worse for your bike...http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm
here is the link for the one I read and I have found others to support it. he argues that by keeping the rpms and load so low that it doesnt force the rings into the cylinder properly and it causes glazing of the cylinder. I have read over the entire article and with my knowledge of an engine he is right on every count. its up to you if you follow it or not. I will follow it if I buy a new bike. but again this is worth a read to see what you think about it. its all about riding it right. dont be too hard but dont baby for 500 miles...I mean realisticly 500 miles at 30 mph...it would take you 17 hours or riding at that speed.

Folks - this isn't the break-in thread. There are enough of those already, and also linked within the wiki.
I cringe even saying it in this thread, but: But even more importantly, can someone please bump the: Girls on Bikes Rock thread?
