Alright, thanks guys. That's what I thought. Just wanted to make sure. There's a few others on CL that I'll look into. I think buying new isn't an option right now.

I tried finding that when you brought it up, but couldn't. I always like reading that.

Anyway, seems like there's no decently priced 250s on CL right now unless you wanna get one from the big island

I am PETRIFIED of spiders!!!!! Please no stories! I did find a couple on the big island that looked decent. The others I've found on CL seem like they are over priced. I checked KBB and even tho some have mods they are $600 over. If I buy new what can I expect out the door? The website says $4199.

Doc. Fees, sales tax, and I guess they charge for FREIGHT! and freight alone is $1000+! But all in all, I LOVE my bike!! Everyone keeps asking if it's a 600cc+ and when I tell them it's only a 250, they get blown away! Lol.

just got back from my late night training. freeway was clear, parking lots empty, and

hella freezing. Kinda hate those lots with chronics in em. Seen 2 250s today: a red with a

pair , and a 2012 green, female. I wonder if they know about the site....

For real? They looked like HIDs. Yeah I was thinking of putting HIDs too, but HIDs won't pass safety?

mine passed..but i dont even take any of my vehicles. i just get a sticker.

i would get a plug and play unit, DDM has awesome slimline kits for cheap..that way when it comes to inspection..just pop in the stock bulb. you only need a low beam HID..trust us lol..and you will need to aim it down A LOT

a friend and sorry, but that is a close knit homie sort of thing.

i assume kstorm wants a pristine new bike for 2500 like every other person.

i'm letting my ninja go for less than i owe, because i need it gone in order to order my duke. yeah it has scratches..but if you are a brand new rider and arent very tall...your gonna drop it practicing. so the few scratches from my wife droppin the ninja...who cares. plus it has almost 1000 in the parts you buy when you get a bike anyway lol

BUY THIS DAMN THING SOMEONE

I wouldn't mind scratches for $2500. But there's scratches and then there are SCRATCHES. That's why I asked for pics. I can always have it painted once I'm really confident. Plus, you didn't ask 2500 for it.

paint and body is nothing, i have been meaning to re-paint to a beautiful dark gray. my brother is a paint/body tech. i just dont have time to strip the bike down and take him the bits. that's $$$$, but 2500...you see them, but they are cash buys and rare and usually dropped hard low miles or high mileage. just saying.

plus add in the parts on the bike...getting a deal. you'll spend the amount in buying frame sliders, lowering kit,etc anyway.

either way, good luck!

$1000+ for shpping fees, about $200 for liscensing fees and whatever more they want from your wallet.

i got my 09 ninja for 5200 OTD but i got it as a leftover stock from the previous year.. bought it from south seas waipahu in feb 2010, that and my dad is HPD so we got some discount

sorry but i totally despise cycle city, overly priced for bikes and horrible customer service. when i was looking for a 250 they quoted me over 6000 OTD for a 2009 and 2010...btw they're asking about 13500 plus fees when south seas is asking 11400 OTD for a new zx6r.

even more worse a couple days ago i got an enewsletter from them offering a deal where if you post a good review about them on yelp they'll give you a free t-shirt, like really??? you have to revert to giving away a free tshirt just for ppl to post good reviews...its called customer service!!!

Unfourtanetly south seas has a very limited supply of bikes so go there as soon as you can.

yeah your not gonna pass safety with HIDS installed but just sayingwinkwink make sure you have all your reflectors installed. 2 orange/amber in the most forward position on the bike, 2 red installed in the rear most position and 1 red rear facing. also all your blinkers and taillight are DOT approved

heres a checklist the inspectors use to do a safety check
http://hawaii.gov/dot/highways/admin...Aug%202005.pdf

i just got mines done at south seas nimitz since the waipahu one doesnt have a qualified inspector, they where quick took about 30 mins. PM me if you got any questions.

i forgot also to mention if you take the msf course on a military base in hawaii you do not receive the class 2 endorsement waiver like the course at LCC does.

So although its free have fun trying to pass the motorcycle road test here, supposedly its a common rumor that its really hard cause(dont quote me on this) the HPD solo bikers administer this test and they are sticklers about everything and while flunk you almost immediately.

Where as the lcc course will pass almost everyone the 1st time and if not you can reschedule the course for free the 2nd time

Honesty, I'd rather pass on a really hard test. If they "pass almost everyone" that's not a good thing. Thanks for the heads up on everything tho. I did go to South Seas the time I went but didn't talk to anyone. Maybe I should hold off a month or so and try to get one of the leftover stock ones.

you could take the road test but it could get pretty frustrating that your not gonna be able to get your class 2 endorsement. ive never met anyone who went thru the road test, most people just take the lcc course. you get to learn some good riding skill and get a discount on your insurance.

thats true about the whole passing almost anyone comment but hey if your scared of riding a motorcycle on the closed course at lcc it gets worse on the road. I had a middle age lady that had an incident when she was younger but decided to get a motorcycle and she was frightened the entire course i swear she never shifted past 2nd

you could wait but the only time a dealer will reduce prices is if they have a previous model year in stock, which they rarely ever have. south seas is a what you see what you get dealer no offsite warehouse with extra stock.

What's the point in taking the class if they don't give you the endorsement? That's weird.

Oh, I thought it was run through LCC. That's what I've read anyways. Oh well...guess I'll have to rethink my options.

baahahahahahaha.

god hawaii is such a clusterfuk. LCC is good to do every few years, i had my motorcycle license from 4 diff states...on me..and Hawaii wa slike no meow!! so took writen test, passed first try..then scheduled LCC, went in that monday boom..license.that easy.

wife..showed her basic controls, let her falla nd eventually ride around a couple times...then she got her permit and went to LCC as well. LCC is a great enviroment, they have amazing instructors, the majority of which are actual retired Solo HPD cops, so they have years and years of trainign and experience a friend or loved one doesnt have. plus the nuetral enviroment and group riding helps you, because you have the ability to see many other peopel do the same thing, simultaneously. which helps cos your group riding, around mostly beginners, so it is very uplifting and gathers some group riding skills immediately.

so worth it. every rider should retake the course every few years.

the only bike your gonna find new under 6000 are gonan be tiny dirtbikes for kids lol

EDIT: if you plan on riding on base, IIRC, you need to take their riding class too
you dont take a full class, they call it a check ride where you do the figure 8 turn, sweeping turn and emergency stop on the bike that you wanna register with the base VRO. They check your lights, mirrors, tires, tire pressure etc. Basically a safety insp, and then then they hand you a card saying you passed the check ride for a specific bike. then you can head down to the VRO with all your bike paperwork, check ride card, msf card, and military ID to get a vehicle base sticker. But before any of this you gotta take a MSF approved BRC on base or at LCC

IIRC its only on tuesday and thursday around 1530, near area x on the far back right behind the long red buildings. Theres a website you go to enroll for the check ride

ok..i am an asshole, but i am hearing a lot of "costs too much" "requires too much work" etc

in hawaii, things cost more period, things are done rather differently most of the time. and it's always gonna be different from the mainland feel and way of things. 200 is cheap, you get your licenses(if you have your permit) with a piece of paper. the instructors are excellent and the class is good for newbies, regular riders and pro's. the basics are just that. you need them to do anything else. you will benefit so much from the class.

you wanna ride, get to it man!(girl!)

enough excuses, attack it and be happy. push it off and less riding time lol. if the prices and so on suck..wait till your back on the mainland. but why! it's just money lol

Agreed! We just got here (in June) and we are still getting accustomed to how expensive things are. If we were on the mainland I probably have a bike by now. I was just referring to taking the class every few years...that's what the "expensive" comment was referring to. I do plan on taking the class at LCC, I just thought the class on post was the same thing. Again, gotta get the hubby on board. If it was my decision I would of had a bike over a month ago.

calm down chris relax and and take a breather haha

but he's right riding is expensive especially in hawaii, what isnt??
thats just the price we pay to live in such a beautiful place, nothing else but that really =\

if you really wnat to ride you'll pay anything to do it.... riding in general is an expensive hobby, but the reward of feeling free on the road and the comraderie is second to none

Posts: A lot.
I had to pay NADA price for a bike that would've cost half that in better condition on the mainland
