Got my inspection finally. I had a memory lapse as to when I did my last one and then found out I couldn't renew my registration. 7 dollars later I'm partially legal to be on the road.

Took the bike to NYST, flagged all day yesterday so during lunch break took it out on the track for a good hour. They ran downtown so got to experience the track backwards lol. Nice and fun time, now need to go and just ride the whole time.

Suppose this isn't "today" but rather this week.
Carb rebuild! Bowl gaskets started leaking like crazy. Bought the bike with less than 2,000 miles on it a month ago so with all the sitting it did I should have expected the ethanol to do it's dirty deeds. It's been a good learning experience though, the 250 Wiki has yet again proven more valuable than gold for me when it comes to working on the bike. Went ahead and threw a couple new spark plugs in as it was only $5 and the tank is already off and I also wiped up the frame and everything that's now exposed. Hoping to smell smoke today and get the bike back home this weekend! *EDIT* Smoke has been smelt! Running good, rides good, no sign of leaks, will call this a win. Performed a valve adjustment in this sweltering Texas heat and humidity. 105 degrees in the shade. I was showering in sweat. Intake aide was all in spec so I left them as-is. Exhaust were all tight so i swapped two of them and replaced two. Also replaced the plugs with iridiums. I also found out my rear brake pressure sensor is dead and it isn't a wiring issue as I hoped it would be. I also noticed that my Apex fittings are rusting.
. My Harbor Freight battery operated drill crapped out. The battery is done. I was trying to drill for my crash cage. Oil change tomorrow.

Removed the remote controlled LED kit that was installed by a car audio shop before I owned the bike.
Lost the fob years ago. No markings on the kit. No one could tell me jack about the replacement. Installing new led strips. Flexible ones. More leds. Single color - red. Now my issue is - the switch. I cannot find a small diameter rocker switch like what is on my 2009.

Well, not "today" but this past weekend:
Put 250 miles on her odo with the local group, and lubed the chain. I thought it had been a long time since I did that, but looking at my records, it was right on schedule. Good thing I keep notes. |

Installed Impaktech stunt cage. What a pain. It's going to be more of a pain just to do simple maintenance when I pull the fairings to check valve clearances and carbies.
So far I've been banging my shins up against it since the bars do not hug the body line.

Took the forks out and knocked off bits of surface rust with a brass brush.
Anyone have any tips for getting the fork cap + snap-ring out? I cracked my back trying to push the top in with a socket. |

Ran 3.2 gallons of 91 ethanol free gas.
See I was out in the country and my gauge said E but I only traveled 175 miles. So I proceeded to find gas and all I could obtain was the 91. Then it only took 3.2 gallons. So my fuel gauge is totally whack. I filled it pretty close to the metal brace that hangs below the fill hole. Needle says just over 3/4 full. Wonder if I should pull the needle and stick it up on F to calibrate it. Otherwise it's pretty useless. Just lets you know there is some gas in there lol Another 70 miles on the ethanol free and it seems to run just as good. Maybe a little bit less popping on the de-accel

I used a bearing puller and a hex socket while the forks were still on the bike to push the fork caps far enough to get the circlips out. Not easy, but doable. Be careful that the puller grips lock on properly on the top triple, or it might lead to disaster

SERENITY got some new sneakers today, Kenda K671s.
Went to the local tire shop, Highway 90 Tire Shop, asked the owner if he does motorcycle tires, he said NO! Then I asked if he would let me use his tire machine, and I would do them myself. He said sure, but he wasn't going to be responsible for any damages, etc... I agreed, having done a lot of tires over the years, I did them myself using his machine, with a little help from from one of his employees. Took about 10 minutes tops, and he only charged me $10!!! for the use of his machine, I also tipped the employee whom help me $5. So for a total of $15 it's done, keeping in mind that motorcycle shops rape you on what the charge to do tires, I'm calling this a win. Also installed the Dynabeads while I had them off.

Re-connected the speedometer cable that came loose on my sons bike. Replaced chain and sprockets on mine, as I was putting the rear wheel back on I knocked the brake pads loose. Ooops not much pad left. Called the local stealership, they didn't have any in stock. Called the next closest, the said they had one set left, hopped on the daughters Harley and picked up the pads, came home and they are front pads, not rear. It was 10 minutes to 5 and stealership closes at 5. So my bike will sit for a few more days until I can get the correct pads.
So then I installed a crash bar on my daughters Harley. |

Installed an adjustable clutch perch, from an low mileage 06 EX500. As well as a short clutch lever. Makes clutching easier and faster for me without having to reach my fingers out fully extended to grab the lever and disengage the clutch like the stock 250 lever. Also got my AGV leathers in finally. Time to hit the super slab.
