My friend who works at a big name power sports dealership said they're very low on power said Suzuki really dropped the ball on what could've been a good thing. If it's a 250 and it's not a Ninja I ain't goin. lol

Unfortunately, like so many of these 'modern' 205s, they really don't deserve the sports bike monikers applied to them. Good grief, the Suzuki weighs more than an ER6N but with about 1/3rd the power!
Pffffff.... At least the Pre-gen was on-par tech and spec wise for it's era, even if the 45hp claim was pure fantasy. The only modern 250 I'd even consider would be the Hyosung GD250R, not to be confused with the barge-like GT250 v-twin. The GD250R is on-par weight and power wise with the original Pre-gen, but with modern chassis and running gear. USD forks, 4-pot brembo goldline-style calipers, led-lights, adjustable rearsets, proper clip-on bars. I had one this time last year, and it was epic. Identical performance to my current pre-gen, but with only one cylinder and reving to about 9k rpm. Did return 80-90miles per gallon when being thrashed (4.54L European gallon at that) compared to 50-60mpg for my pre-gren in similar conditions. Only cost about £3k new, compared to £3.5k-£4k for the lower spec Kawasaki Z250SL equivalent. In case your wondering, I only don't have it now because the dealer who sold it new to me didn't actually pay the importer nor register it for road use etc, so it was basically 'stolen goods'. I gave it back to the finance company, who in turn passed it back to the importer. I got all my money back in the end except one monthly payment (£82)... which isn't bad for 4,300 miles of hard use on a bike then due for new tyres and a full service! Bargain. Was very VERY tempted to buy another, but couldn't resist an immaculate pre-gen for £1.5k. Anyhoo, back to the topic... this new 250 Suzuki is an embarresment, end of! |
