I have a 2012 zx6r
as far as gas mileage i get about 42 mpg and thats riding aggresive when i want. When i dont ride aggressive i shift to 6th on the freeway and shifting around town to keep my rpms below 8k, it still has plenty of power when i want and need it. The cost is roughly 13.50 every fill up using 91, so people saying gas is expensive are crazy top speed ive hit is 150 indicated so around 140 id say with the speedo error got my bike in march and have 3500 on the odo i think. Got an oil change for free at 600 miles that was part of the deal when i bought the bike new, and did another oil change at 1500 using rotella t6. planning on doing another one around 4500-5k. Chain is cleaned and lubed between 3-400 miles. Tires are in good shape and probably have another 1k on them at least. the front and rear brake fluids are still on the upper, coolant is more than half, and forks have not had an issues at all. all in all im very happy with the zx6r, i got my 250 planning on practicing and getting some seat time, i sold it for more than i bought it for. Talked to the guys i bought the 250 from and got a really good deal on a '12 walking otd for less than 9200 with a 4 year extended warranty. If you are a mature rider than you will be able to handle a 600 i believe. |

Based on my Fuelly stats, my 250R costs $0.065/mile and my ZX6R costs $0.104mile. Assuming I ride 5,000 miles/year on both bikes, that's an extra $195 in fuel costs to operate the ZX6R over the 250R. I didn't buy my bikes for economy, I just like the number-crunching parts and ride because it's fun. |

Going to the track is on my bucket list, but it'll be difficult to fit it in my schedule. I work way too much and I plan on going to back to school and I don't have any friends that ride, not very social.
If anything, I'd be more willing to take the 250R to the track. You can ride the ZX6R whenever you want, just know that if you wreck it, you pay up. |

In that range ( I wasn't looking at the speedo...) it shreded till it hit the knox armor (RS Taichi comes with knox) thwn it barely scratched it. I could have worn it again but that's bad ju-ju.

You do too have friends that ride, just not down there! Come out to the noobie track day in September? I can help you out with whatever you need out there and i'll be your friend! Haha. Should be far enough in advance to plan work/school around it and get gear.

Always helpful people at the track. I find more friendly and helpful than when i was in MX. Maybe because during MX we were in our 20's and now that we in our 40's we are all nicer to each other.

I actually have the same suit that you do, only in black/magnesium and I will have full Dainese gauntlets by the end of this month (their new Druids ST are coming in stock). I might look into the Sidi ST's since I have their low-end Cobras at the moment. |

I just got my '04 ZX6. I think the bike handles quite well. The 250 was squirrely, but that changed once I put on the clipons (very low position) and cut the hell out of the fairing so I could actually turn (the new clips ends sat about 6 inches lower than stop). That immediately cleared that up.
But yeah, the ZX6. Man, the throttle response is pure sex! So incredibly fast (rev'ing). And the sound too. I always wanted the 250 to have that kind of throttle response. So crisp and fast. Of course, the sound of a 4-line is pure sex too. It's one of the reasons why I didn't want a 650 Ninja; same old 2 cylinder engine sound. The only problem I had so far, was today when riding over some dirt that washed onto the street. I was in first gear and accelerating. I was about 6K about to shift when I hit that patch of sand and the tire slipped and the RPM instantly hit up to 13k. Scared the **** out it me at first (thought something had happened to the bike). |
