If you want I have two old contours I don't use anymore I'll sell you. Ones a 1080p and I think the other is the 720. I'd use the 1080p for a rear cam and the 720 to film different hand and foot controls, maybe some suspension movement.

I your back in the LA area this week I'll bring them down so you can check them out.
Sadly I'm in Vegas for a while, but feel free to sell to anyone else -- at this point I think the GoPro is the right answer, even though my spare batteries won't be compatible.

I'll Leave the contours at home then so if someone local is interested in them we can talk next week because it's road trip time for me

I'll leave you guys with this from last weekend. Front and rear are both Hero3 blacks running at 1080P 60FPS

I bought the Emerson Go Action Cam 720p. Some people like the quality for the cost. Admittedly, it's no GoPro, but good alternative for us who don't want I shell out $200-300+ for a GoPro. I'll let you all know how it goes.

Look at @Kevin2109's YouTube. He has this like grand theft auto view for a camera on his bike.

While no remote control helicopter, can you attach a ski pole or something to the back of the bike and then the go pro to it on top so it records the aerial view above you?

If not just stick a ton of helium balloons to it and tie them to the bike, do it Up style

Very fun! Considered making a PVC 'Tripod' to stable it out? I may experiment with something like this if I get another camera

Dude the way I flick the bike left to right in the tight stuff the camera would get catapulted a 1/4 mile away

I still like the low drag kite with bungee setup idea.
