Hydration is very important. A basic rule of thumb, your urine should be clear maybe slightly yellow. You never want dark yellow urine. (although usually in the morning after sleeping it will be a little darker).

clear pee means you have NOT ENOUGH ELECTROLYTES. and you ARE DEHYDRATED. the color in your pee comes from urea which is the result of your kidnees stripping toxins from your blood. clear pee means you have not enough electrolytes to transfer toxins away from your cells into your blood stream and into your kidnees where it gets turned into urea

No... I mean type 2.... type 2 you can get if it runs in the family or if it doesn't. You're just more of a risk if you have family who has diabetes... Believe me I used to date a diabetes nurse... Not to mention one of my very close friends had type 1 diabetes so I know the difference.

I can easily drink a gallon of water during a 10 mile hike in the summer.

Here's a very basic self analysis: if your lips are dry and chap, chances are you're not drinking enough liquids.
Maybe I'm just used to it, but I crave water first thing in the morning! Also note, a cup of coffee or tea in the morning is considered water as well since a good portion of those drinks are water based. So for those who think it's hard chugging water, just start slow. If you can't finish a bottle of water before you leave your house, drink 1/2 the bottle. Instead of soda for lunch, drink water. With the amount of salt in today's food, it should make you thirsty enough to down a bottle for lunch. Same goes for dinner new. Have water instead of juice. What worked for me in the beginning was squeezing some lemon and adding a bit of honey into an ice cold bottle. It is amazing. Give that a shot. Between the 3 bottles of water you drink daily (with breakfast, lunch and dinner) + your other beverages during the day, it should be relatively easy to get hydrated "enough". You may not get 1 gal (heck, I don't!). But it should be "good enough". Another trick is to add wedges of orange or toss in a few raspberries or blackberries in the water. Gives it a slight zing that may help you gulp down that water. Good luck. |

Well, none of us are doctors. We know what works for us but really cannot speak for OP.
To OP: you should try to hydrate yourself more, whether it be more water, or coconut oil, etc. You need to do something. See your doctor try to do some of your own research online and figure out what's best for you. You've had 60 kidney stones, whatever you are doing isn't working. I'm just concerned about you, I don't care who is right. You should try and fix this.

The amount of water you have to drink to harm yourself for a normal healthy person is so far beyond ridiculous that you don't even have to worry about it. If you've been puking, having diarrhea, or have some other health issues, then yeah, you need more than just water. Normal people? Just drink water and you're fine. Most Americans are dehydrated, most need to drink more water than they do. Coconut water? It's a fad and marketing gimmick. It can not be safely used intravenously, and is only used in emergency situations. They used it in WWII because they didn't have anything else. It is not close to human plasma, it doesn't have enough sodium to remain in the bloodstream, and it can raise potassium and calcium to dangerous levels (when used IV). Call up any doctor in the phone book and ask him/her if they'll use coconut water to re hydrate a patient, IV or oral. Some may use it orally, none would use it IV. I'll drink coconut water over a sports drink, but I'll drink plain water over coconut water. |

My doctor/acupuncturist says 1 ounce of water for every 2 pounds of body weight. 200#? drink 100 oz's. YMMV if exercising or wearing black leathers in August! Coffee and couches kill.

Want to know how much more to drink do to working out? Every now and again weigh yourself before and after a workout and do not drink anything between. The delta is how much extra you should drink.

I had kidney stones when I was in kinder. The stones were not too big so they gave me medicine that would dissolve them and I urinated the broken particles out. The particles were very small so it didnt hurt coming out. But yes, kidney stones are painful.

Well the suckiness just got suckier. Pain got even worse, so the wife drove me to the hospital this time. Come to find out, the first ER I went to on Monday didn't calculate the size of the stone correctly on the ct scan. It is 1.7 cm, not 7 mm. Definitely not passing this puppy. They admitted me and will be going under for surgical removal of the stone sometime today. wife says I am not riding the bike for a few days, ppphhhfff. Come hell or high water, I shall be riding by Tuesday.
