I love that gauge, and this looks like such a cool project! I'll be watching eagerly. Getting that gauge is tempting, but I really should invest in a lock/alarm and better pair of boots first.

Everyone says to sand them smooth when doing a fork oil job, but that may be because they assume there are likely pits and burrs that caused the seal failure. IMO, as long as it is followed with a super fine grit it would probably be better off.

NO NO NO sanding please. If there's chips or divots in the Crome tubes you stone them with a fine grit machinists stone do not use sand paper. As for removing the paint any kind of pain thinner will do the trick but try and keep it out of the seals because it will eat the rubber. And yes you must remove the paint or else it will wear off and turn your fork oil into oily paint sludge.

Ok im at school and watching yall talk lol. Replying on my phone. So for my new gauge im almost done rewiring it to match my hanress on bike. I will have pictures by this weekend witg it on the bike. Ill post some pictures of it tonight on what it looks like so far. As for the forks, I was simply painting my tail fairings and front headlight part so it didn't look so ugly till I add the front parts, so I was like why not paint the forks? I didnt sand or anything. All I did was aim and spray flat black automotive paint lol

So as most of you know i returned my digital speedo and i dont recommend it to anyone! Im going to look for a non Chinese product that is durable. Ill let you know what i get.
As for what happened today: I sold my old Swingarm sliders for 10$ on craigslist. This guy see's my bike and he wants to swap me his exhaust.... I look at his bike and it has a brand new YOSHI, that BACK FIRES. I tried his bike and nothing, absolutely nothing wrong with it. His explanation? I always like 2 Brothers more. Me? ive always loved how the yoshis looked and sounded so i went for it! Thing is none of us had air tools on us to get my exhuast off, So were meeting up this weekend at my uncles mechanic shop and hes going to swap it for us! The guy knows its more expensive too, but he is a filthy rich guy and his mom paid for it he said. LOL. Hes like 20 years old im 18 and after we talked and ate together (because we started riding together for a little) he told me he has a rear seat that he would give me for free on the weekend when we switch the exhaust. I officially am the luckiest man on earth. 700$ ninja, Free yoshi, free seat. Btw my exhaust is all scratched up and ****. I couldnt have had a better day. Met a new riding buddy, New free parts, and 10$ lol.

So we went riding again and man is his bike fast. I took it for a spin and rev'd it and we took a little drag race in a back road WITH FULL GEAR. He said he put a ninja 500 engine in there. I didn't completely believe him till i rode it. When we got on the line, i started to put some gas like i would on mine and let go of the clutch and before i knew it i was doing my first wheelie LOL. He stopped immediately to see if i was going to lay down his bike but i kept cool and let go of the gas and put it down. PRO I KNOW, he still want my TB full exhaust, but i said no way now that i know it is a full exhaust system and not the slip on only.
For who ever thinks i should give this Chinese speedo another try go to my speedo thread and vote, Im really not wanting to get another one cause of how mad i am that he wouldn't pay the shipping. But i have to let my ego down and decide, need yalls help. Is it worth it?

I saw them but i really hate the digital tachometer.... Even the look of it is pretty ugly and old looking lol. But its the same exact price as that Chinese replica. And im sure the vapor is more reliable. So i think i might get it if people disagree to try it again. It really looks tempting tooo, hmmmmm.....

You have no blinkers. They are usefull for street riding. They really are.
How long will that paint hold on to the hot exhaust? Painted forks? Some things are left bare for a reason. edit: I think you're right about it being lowered. |

Idohaveblinkersonthe back,LED ones. And so far for 3 month riding they have been perfect, never got in a close call thank god and i don't think i will be getting front turn signals. Unless they are flush mounts but since i don't have fairings i will have to find a way to put them on.
For the exhaust paint i used a flat black high temp made specifically for exhaust systems and they have been great, not one scratch or fade. If they do ill just repaint it, no big deal. 10$ bucks for a can that i didn't even wast use so far. But the forks are a different story, so far they have been holding, im going to keep them on for now.

The factory paints 2010, 2011, and 2012 exhausts black, so I guess there was no reason. .

I may be going out on a limb here, but I believe he was talking about the forks... Also, the temperature at the muffler is MUCH lower than the temperature at the headers. I believe 200*C max at the muffler as compared to upto 650*C at the headers.

That's 1202*F and really ought to toast your cookies
I've read that High Tempature Ceramic Paint can withstand over 1200*F (650*C) Here's a useful link: competitiveedgecoatings.com Cost for exhaust manifold coating: Motorcycle Aluminum Ceramic Coating (quoting Harleys but I would expect simular for the Ninjette) H.D. Single $140.00 H.D. 2 into 1 $160.00 H.D. Drag $160.00

My dad manufactures exhaust systems for 4 wheelers and generators. We use high temperature paint ranging from 200*C max to 600*C max depending on the application. Generally diesel fuels burn at a much lower temperature than petrol thus requiring lower resistance.

Sigh, guys im not dumb lol....
I understood how hot it was and bought paint that could withstand up to 2000f (1093c) from orielly for 10 bucks and looks as if the headers came factory made black. Its really good quality and recommend anyone who is getting a streetfighter to do the same! Heres the link if you dont believe me lol The actual website: http://www.vhtpaint.com/products/flameproof/ Where i bought it from in store: http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...igh+heat+paint

So i raised the Bike back up after finding out it was lowered! It feels so much better and smoother on pot holes and turns. Also i dont feel like a giant anymore, I feel like it fits perfectly my size now. Also changed my spark plugs, man they were burned out.
Here is a before after picture. When I first got the bike, before i changed the links, after changing links.

Thanks alot! I really put time and just enough money with patience on good deals. So fat ive spent 1600$ on the whole bike and all i need to do is get the back seat which im trying to find for 30$ plus the brackets for it. Other then that im done! Im probably going to work on the gauge and front look, but not until i get my college stuff out of the way (so maybe summer) for soccer. Im in high school, a senior, making visits, work, club soccer (aka my life), V. high school soccer.. So ya next update will be in a while. Ill let you guys know where i commit for soccer! Should be around February or April!
