Yeah I saw all of the options.. my issue is I'm not 100% sure what the seat will look like until it's ordered. Most sites I know that do custom work like this have some sort of chart or example pictures of different configurations..

Frank, go to the "Help Me" tab, and under the "Quick Links" heading click "Glossary". Choose the "Pilot Saddle" and mouse over the various parts of the seat for description.
This will at least help you identify the different parts of the seat. |

finally some comfort
I got my seat the other day. I couldn't wait to install it. I hate the stock seat so I was glad to hear that someone made an after market seat. The install was very simple. I'd like to thank kkim for his DIY on the install. I read it over before I started and it helped. I'm glad people take the time to do DIY for us newbies.
When I took the stock seat off my first impression of it was it felt really cheap. It was so light and felt like there was nothing to it compared to the corbin which was heavier and had a solid feel about it plus it has a lot more cushion to it. With the new seat I feel like I sit lower on the bike. I rode to work to day and it was so nice to not slide forward so much of the time and the seat felt great. I am really happy with it and I hear it only gets better with time as it molds to your butt. My bike is even more enjoyable to ride. I bought my seat at jcmotors.com for about $250 total and it got to me in about 10 days. It has carbon fiber top with asphalt sides. I didn't do any custom things to the seat.

Leave my monkey and my butt out of it.
It is riding weather here. It is suppose to be in the 60's all week. I live by a rode that is popular for motorcyclist to ride on and there has been a ton of them going by. My kids and I love to see all the different kinds that go by. Happy and safe riding to all.

Joel, when I got my Corbin I just want to warn you, the first 200 miles were the WORST breaking in that seat. It may not be the same for you, but just in case it is, give it time before deciding how much you like that seat. I still love mine!

Well, I got my seat yesterday. Only took about 15mins to put on thanks your DIY. My frist impression the seat was a lot firmer than stock. I took out for a ride today and the first 15 or so miles I was undecided if I liked it or not because it make me place my legs so wide apart. So I just stoped thinking about the seat and just road. Well after about 2 1/2 hours of riding I realized was not sore at all, which I'm usually ready to get off and take rest. I am happy that I bought the seat now.
Again thanks Kelly for the DIY |

Chris - how long did it take for yours to come in? I'm a little over a week past my order, so I figure there are about 3 weeks to go...

cool!
It does take some getting used to as the shape is so different from stock. What color did you go with? Pics are permitted, ya know. |

I went with Corbin standard combo (carbon and asphault). When I call them they said that was the best looking combo. I think it look great myself.
Sorry the pictures dark. Best I can do it is late. |

hmm... they changed their logo.
chris, as the seat breaks in, you will find it gets more and more comfortable. i wasn't too impressed with it when i first got it. i really like it now. it is one of the better mods i did to my bike. |

Gary, it is more comfortable than the stock one. I would say it 2nd best mod I done. #1 would be exhaust. But that might get move if your right.

Thanks for the pics, Chris. That looks great!
wait till you start hitting the twisties and you'll really appreciate the flatter surface of the Corbin which lets you move side to side a lot easier than the stocker. |

it's basically what others have said.. sliding forward is 1., then 2., I also have a$$ pain after long rides
Why I'd want to pay them a visit and have it built there is because you've said the original seat's wider on the edges that leads probably having to tippy toe more when at a stop light, right? I'm not sure if I'd want the edges wider like that, making my legs apart wider when at a stop light. But I figure if I go there and have them make it, I'll know for sure if I want it different from their standard builds if they can let me try it first. |

The longer you ride with the stock crappy seat, the more your gonna notice a difference in a cool new seat.
Think I seen that on a fortune cookie |

i put in over 200kms today on my new Corbin today. It was not a pleasant experience. Even wore my padded bike shorts thinking it would make the process of breaking in go a little smoother. The pain started around 50 kms in. The shape of the seat did feel more comfortable but the pain told me otherwise. I'll give another run but if i can't stand riding for at least an hour i will have to consider selling it.
I'm used to ride for at least two hours before i feel some discomfort but today's ride was way beyond discomfort.

200 kms is not enough time for the seat to break-in. is that all you put on it so far? it gets better as it molds to you. i didn't really care for it at first either. according to the website, it takes about 1500-2000 miles (about 2,400-3,200 kms) for it to mold to your butt.

Mine still breaking in at 1,200 miles, but there is a significant improvement over the factory seat. I'm taking 2 really long trips this spring so we'll see how it performs.

I wish I would have read your DIY on Corbin seat before I got mine today and spent 1 hour trying to figure out why it "wouldn't fit"... I even called Corbin and they had no tech notes. The guy told me the two prongs were supposed to go where the stock seat went. Obviously, you know that won't work. Here it is 2012 and I had to find your 4 year old post to help confirm I did it right...lol...thanks
