If they change anything, I'd like the tank to be more aggressively shaped with a hunch in it so us long leg folks can grip the tank better. I don't care if it lowers the fuel capacity! As long as it has a more comfortable leg position like the CBR250R!

Not that I am saying they should make the Ninjette less attractive, because obviously a sporty-looking 250 will help encourage noobs to start small and not go out and buy a SS 600-1000 as their first bike, but does anyone else on here think that their bike (new-gen) garners too much attention for a total noob? I mean alot of the time I think it would be nice to have a pre-gen to attract less attention to myself, instead of everyone thinking I am on some crotch rocket and want to race off the line from stop lights or do roll-on's on the freeway all the time. Don't get me wrong, I love my bike and wouldn't trade it for pre-gen, and it's not bad at all now, as I am not worrying about stalling or tipping over in the parking lot, but when I first started riding, I felt like I was posing as a sport-rider when I knew nothing, and was constantly talking my bike down to people I knew because all of my (no bike knowledge) friends were so impressed, only to make fun of me and call it a girl bike once I told them it was a 250/how cheap it was/ and call it a lawnmower after hearing the engine run. It just seems that being in the "sportbike crowd" has its streotype that might not be friendly to noobs who do not have their head on completely straight, and will try antics to impress/show off that they might not have the opportunity to engage in had they been riding a pre-gen that doesn't usually cause people to look twice and say "Whoa, a crotch rocket, let's race him in my Civic". Lol.
Sorry to rant, this just popped into my head. It's probably different for me because I am in college, and you know how the typical college crowds can be... /rant |

Really i dont get how people mistake a 250 for a 600 then talk about how girly it can be when they thought it was a 600, if they are the supersport riders they are just fan boys know nothing about motorcycles.
Real riders know 250 is where its at though. :] i see all the time 600rr,r6s,zx6rs and they all go speed limit something a ninja can easly do, but ninja 250s save alot of money.

I was quoting someone else so I don't know for sure, but if it works anything like the way cars do, the bigger dealers get first dibs on the early (limited) production vehicles. That is to say, find the biggest dealer that you can find in November and he may have some.

sales were down and i still see 2008-2009 500R's for sale at dealerships... you cant GIVE them away! If your thinking 500cc would be Cheaper on insurance, than the 600-650cc. Think again! I shopped around for the cheapest insurance on my 650R last year and Asked every Insurance company, "Do you guys charge higher rates for Bigger cc bikes?" "No" was the answer from all 14 places i went too! people dont like the 650R's cuz of the Banana seat. Well my 650R is a great motorcycle. Its Banana seat is very very GF/passenger friendly. We did an 800 mile trip on my 650R. Try that on a 250R... the 250R's tiny pavilion seat and passenger position SUCK for riding 2UP for anything over 40-50 miles. Thats all your gonna be able to ride 2UP on a 250R, 40-50 miles at a time b4 your wife/GF needs a butt break!!! The 650R is a more practical and versatile Motorcycle, than the 250R! I love my 250R, but for 2UP and longer trips, 650R hands down is better! I miss the 65-74 MPG of my 250R though!!! |

Kawasaki is know over the years for not changing something that works. Using same components on different models. The good thing is the prices stay a bit lower than other brands. Had me going for 10 seconds Cowboy!

I get 40mpg average...
I'm beginning to think that the odometer is inaccurately. Otherwise, there may be something wrong with my brand-new bike as it has never gotten over 45mpg. I'm going to compare the odometer count to GPS for the next week or two. |

There's at least .8 gallons of gas left when you hit empty by design. It's what the Ninjette has instead of a reservoir tank. I hit empty at 150 mile mark and I fill up right up to the neck every time for accurate calculation of mpg. Next time I fill up, be it two gallons or four, I just got to divide the distance traveled by the amount of gas it takes to fill the tank back to the neck. If you read some of the mpg threads here, some people get 50 and higher mpg on their stock bikes.

180 miles divided by 3.3 gallons = 54.54 mpg.

Yah, I think he has his numbers off. The new-gen isn't even rated for 60mpg let alone 70mpg.

I routinely get 58-60 mpg if I am just commuting and shifting around 7-8k. Traffic doesn't typically allow much more than that, rpm-wise.
When I'm riding for pleasure, open road, shifting at 12-13k and cruising around 9-10k, I still get 53-56 mpg. And no, I'm not tucking, and that's at 6'2", 205. I couldn't imagine getting mileage in the 40's. Then again, I haven't modded my carbs either. |

Your getting EFI.. there are no carbs to be seen at the Thai factory..... So start saving for your Power commanders now.. no more easy HP from simple jet changes.

Snake.... sorry to wind you up... I'm really not sure whats happening.. BUT The US and i think Indonesia are the only 2 markets that still get the Carbed bike..SO i think it will happen soon. Especially as the Honda Cbr250 is now here and the mags are saying how good the EFI is...
BUT the downside to the EFI is that it can get to be more expensive to tune it (power commander) BUT it's loads smoother when done.. |

I love reading the posts about mpg's. Some people don't care, others worry about it, I myself ride how I want but just like to track it so I know where it is. So many things contribute to that number and a lot of it is driving/riding style. I ride smooth and don't rip on it every time I go out, I'm also not the person racing to be the first to the red light either.
My 2008 250 with full Yosh and jetted has never gotten less than 60mpg, best overall tank was 67mpg. I think my gearing change has a lot to do with it as I'm running 15/42. As far as manufacture ratings, those numbers seem to be pretty conservative. I have had a lot of vehicles and always exceed their estimates. My Jeep Wrangler is rated for 15/19 and I get 20/23 every tank. Those numbers are low but for something as aerodynamic as a brick it's par for the course. I do manual calculations as some vehicles computers aren't as accurate and often display above average readings. Anyway, post on... |

they have one and i can't beleive it, due to the fact it sucks in every sense. NOW, bring back the ZXR400 from the 90's and i'll be first in line. There is or was a ZZR400 as well but don't know dick about it, would assume with the ZZR tag it should be be powerful 400cc ride (like the ZXR), or could just be a canadian bike.
