Rode around today and I really can't help but feel like this is not what the way the throttle on a sportbike should react. I really need to find a supersport to hop on for comparison

Hell, maybe there is something wrong. It shouldn't be that big of a deal. Can you find someone local to take it around the block for you?

Hey Jiggles, it probably isn't you. Many of the fibikes out there have rather abrupt transitions from idle to just off idle. Spend some time reading reviews of bunches of bikes and that is the most common complaint common to many of them. But just in case I would probably cut back on the energy drinks...

with dirtbikes you can get flywheel weights to change the characteristics of your power delivery and engine braking, not exactly sure the effects they have cuz i have never used one, but have heard people talk about them. Not sure if they make anything similar for street bike

The answer is....it depends....some years and models are better or worse than others... in fact i would say that even within the same production runs there will be variations...best to read the reviews and do some test rides. This is part of the reason i bought the vstrom 650. I have little tolerance for sketchy fueling issues. Call it a pet peeve.
