In RI some rains, but have seen regular rainstorms bring more rain, hardly any wind. Guess I shouldn't comlain.

From what my parents said it was a dud of a hurricane/tropical storm and were quite happy the storm was so off shore.

We had over 200 rescues from rip currents. Two people still in the hospital and I believe one death. And that was just Saturday. Tons of surfing all weekend. Two shark bites ( on surfers). This was the most sharks seen in the water for a long time. They were everywhere.

Kinda hard to close a beach in RI when RI is pretty much just beach it

Compared to other beaches I've been to in New Jersey and Cali, it's actually pretty impossible to close a beach in Rhode Island. There is a ton of private property right on the beach and multiple access points, which makes it virtually impossible to close a beach. Then when it comes right down to it, if someone wants to access the water they will find a way, happens around CA all the time.

Yeah, there's just nothing better for your nerves than sitting in a shuttered-up house, where you can't see out, and hearing all hell break loose outside for hours on end. It's pretty bad.

Having said that, I've been very lucky, hurricane-wise. Andrew was awful, but I lived north of where he hit back then, so all I suffered was lack of electricity. Friends and family of mine had it much worse. The other two we had here a few years ago were bad, but not terrible for me and mine. Again, no electricity, and some damage to the house, but no loss of life or injuries. Still, it's scary as hell.

Snake, I wasn't in RI at the time. I didn't go because of the Cane. I was in FL.

RI beaches were closed, but that didn't keep some out of the water.
