I like the idea of Blue Ox towing sportloader ramp. Looks like it is very easy and simple to use, although it is expensive. Anyone using this or anything similar to it to load your bike on your truck?

I use a Joe Hauler, the sideways bike mount that goes into your hitch directly. Lov that thing, have dozens of trackdays hauling bikes from a 250 to 750 with no issues.
Don't have to stay in the slow lane either. LOL |

I saw somebody using one of those at our track this weekend. Always wondered how well they worked.

I think they work great on vehicles that can handle them, but it does take a reasonably heavy duty vehicle to support 500+ pounds right on the tow hitch. Effectively it's even more than the equivalent pounds of tongue weight, as the bike has to sit back a few inches off the hitch, adding leverage.

500 lbs? LOL
Yes I agree, it takes a toll on some vehicles. I have a Chevy Blazer and the set-up works well for me but the tongue-weight is ridiculous. I got it from a buddy years ago for $40 (the heavy duty cam-lock version is like $400 new) and figured I would try it. Fast forward....Still works great but my next vehicle will likely be a pickup. LOL I have a $2k blazer, carrying a $2500 Ninja 250, on a $40 carrier. Every arrival is a CELEBRATION! cheers |
