The instruction booklet is nearly useless (not entirely, but mostly) but we were able to figure out how to set it up. It's nice because I don't have to turn it on or worry about taking it off the bike when I park. |

Replaced snapped throttle cable set
I was lucky it snapped when I was still in my driveway and not when pulling out into traffic.

I rode to and from work in the pouring rain. But, my new windshield was waiting for me when I got home. Now I can hide behind my 7jurock windscreen when it’s cold and rainy.
I hope it’s an improvement, I might mold an adjustable lip at work to fine tune it. |

I took it for the annual "safety inspection" for $13.60. It passed.

The inspections here don't amount to much. Traditionally the vehicle passes, you pay the $13.60, and you're done. The brake check amounts to seeing if car stops, rather than continuing through the inspection bay and out through the rear wall of the shop. They'll actually blow the horn and check the headlights, turn signals, and tail lights. They'll probably even go as far as seeing if the wipers work.
When I take a motorcycle in, the guy usually just starts writing up the paperwork. Once he told me that he figured I wouldn't be riding it if it weren't safe. That's the only inspection we have here, my county has too low a population to have emissions inspections, so I really have no complaint. And since vehicles 35 years old and older are exempt, two of mine don't get any inspections. |

Changed the oil and filter. Lubed the chain. Gassed it up and tied my tail bag on. Planning on riding south to Spreewell Bluffs, then over to Pine Mountain and prolly north from there. Should be a bout a five hr ride, I'm sure to see some pictures to take. Waking up at 4:30 and should hit the road before 5 am.

Yeah, I might have a "type"...
I'm not sure how much actual difference there is between Metallic Diablo Black and Metallic Spark Black, but these two are definitely family.

On Friday, I installed my electronic turn signal flasher and LED bulbs for the turn signals. Sunday I did the plate light. No bulbs left on the bike!
I also transferred my weighted bar ends from the 500 to the 400. I was able to get the right one off with just my allen wrench, but I had to run to the store to pick up some encouragement (a 6mm allen impact socket) for the left one. This gave me a chance to directly compare the change. The stocker vibrated noticeably more. I never really felt like it did a ton on the 500, but this A/B comparison on the 400 convinced me it was worth it. At full lock, they're just long enough to hit my knees though, which is a little annoying.

Uh no. Only way bulb can be ON, is when power is applied. This is failure of one of two brake-light switches. Or adjustment. Spring in rear brake-pedal can be adjusted.. Damn American mechanics! Always have to send bike back to Japanese factory to have it repaired properly.

Since the running light and brake light are contained in the same LED assembly, it's very easy for poorly wired internals to cause the lights to do unexpected things. The bulb can definitely be on, since power is applied constantly via the taillight circuit.

Did some online shopping today for the ninjette.
Got a Spears shark fin toe guard. Darn thing is pricey for a piece of aluminum with three bends. Also picked up three extra long Woodcraft handle bars, so I can mount lever guards. |

I have all LED bulbs and have 0 issues. I love LEDs.
Last night, I roughed up the rear rotor, changed the throttle valves in the carbs, and reset the jetting. |

Didn’t really do anything to the bike, but I picked up a service manual and a supplement from fleabay. Want to learn how to remove and clean the carb and don’t want to rely just the binja250 faq wiki.

After a frustrating time yesterday evening trying to lower my preload to the first setting, I was able to do it just now easy peasy
I had been trying to do it with the tool from Takara's tool bag or a hammer and screwdriver. The thing wouldn't budge. After talking to @Ducati999, I tried a pipe wrench like he suggested. It made some marks on the shiny silver piece, but worked like a charm, no help needed It might be something little, but I'm happy, and I can't wait to see what difference it makes.

With a good bit of husband's help, got the caliper taken apart and cleaned up. Just a little bit of yuck left on the very tip of the pistons and on the pins for the larger brake pad.
New seal kit ordered, new pads, and a new brakeline (steel). She'll be back together soon. |

Well long time no see folks, its been a year since my accident and I finally had a week off of work to relax and work on the bike.
This was over the last 3-4 days but I wired up a new speedometer, headlight/ windscreen, flushed the carbs and fuel tank. Bike rums great will upload pics when I can of what it looks like now. It's neat little project but have a baby on the way and need to sell it now unfortunately. |
