It looks like a PLMFG. I'm going it guess that it is. I promise you he would remember spending $700 on an exhaust vs. $200 IMO

uni pod filters, keihn 110 mains.. shimmed with 3 washers.. idle mixture screw out about 3-3 1/4 turns, kleen system removed. carbs synced.. runs really good.. only put about 20 miles on it with the exhaust so far, noticed instantly how im revving much less to get up to speed and maintain.. still running stock gearing also. considering a 15t front sprocket before the exhaust, now i may not need it Oh and i put redline synthetic oil in at 600 miles and i swear that made it run better..loL!

yeah i put the carbs back in with 2.5 turns out cause thats what most seem to run.. it was still to lean, idle was hanging when i cracked the throttle.. 3 almost 3.5 is where it felt the best.. i dunno.

yeah its hard to say exactly cause after 2.5 i was adjusting on the bike and even with the MOF screwdriver it was still a challenge, but was definitely pushing 3 ish turns before it felt right..

I loaded my bike up on my dad's pickup today; He surprised me by letting me drive his pickup up to NJ tomorrow night for my vacation. I was so torn between riding my bike up, or taking my Tahoe and seriously couldn't decide; I never even considered his truck to be an option until he told me to take it. Problem solved

Today I built myself a bike. I had a clear title to an 88 frame a running 2003 engine and a perfect body from a 2001. I scrounged up enough parts to make it pass inspection . Lights blinkers reflectors and the horn. It has a Kerker header but I will probably replace it with a quiet stock exhaust.
The air box was messed up and dirty so I used pod filters and jetted it with 108s. It seems to run OK . it is the motor I used at the race track. It has a tick but I don't care. I just want to ride to and from work. |

made it from like 3/4 - 1" wide thin aluminum bar i bought at lowes, found in the row with all the screws and bolts.. basically used my dremel and cut it to the length i needed, measured the center were i would want my phone to be and put it in my table vice and used a pair of pliers and twisted it.. cut a pc of rubber hose i had laying around to length then cut it down the center so the rubber is only on one side ( using the entire hose around the bar was too thick ) and zip tied it to the front making it a little thicker in the center for my phone clip to grab ahold of it snug.. used some loctite on the windscreen nuts holding it on. overall cost was about $4.. took all of 15mins to make and stock windscreen painted black.

not bad.. obviously over bumps you see it vibrate a little but overall ive got probably 100 or so miles on it now with no issues.. bikes been at 80mph on the hwy multiple times and quite a few back roads. i was going to use a thicker bar, but i didnt wanna fight with twisting it..loL! so after cutting it down and tightening it to the windscreen, it firmed it up pretty good, plus the top of my phone pretty much touches the underneath of the windscreen so that doesnt give it much room to vibrate or move much. overall for the time and $$ i invested it works really well.

I have this and installed it but my problem is my iPhone 4 shuts down due to extreme heat. I use this for GPS purposes. If I can at least put my iPhone under the windscreen then maybe I will have better chance of less direct sunlight.

After getting my bike all put together I was warming it up and noticed a tapping sound. The previous owner said the engine knocked.I did not hear it with the dual megaphones on the race bike. But with the Kerker as soon as it warmed up it was there. When I drained the oil it looked like someone was panning for gold. Or aluminum and copper. OUCH.
I have a 2001 engine but it was all carboned up and lost compression.I figured the top from the knocking engine would still be good.So I pulled the knocking engine and repaired the carboned up engine. The rings where stuck in the ring gruves. After carefull cleaning and reassembly it started right up. I did a minor port and polish job on the head to remove all the carbon so I am looking forward to riding this. Now I have to do all the insurance, inspection and title work. |

Today I repacked the Kerker muffler for 8 dollars. There was no packing left and it was very loud. With the packing is it a little quieter. But not as quiet as I would like.
I got an insurance quote at 99 or 165 dollars. and it will be about 300 dollars to get inspection tags, tax title work and all that jazz. So about 500 dollars and I can go riding. I will have to wait a little while. I need pistons for the race bike and that comes first. |

Said to hell with looking at more ideas on-line for one day, threw on a Pro-grip tank protector and took her out for her first 100km, and my first ride of the year.
