Yeah that is definitely a turn I would worry about. I went and watched a friend drive at one of the car track days and it was always sketchy seeing the cars get close to that wall. Little room for error. Haha. I don't even want to imagine what that would be like on a bike. I'd say you got very lucky with that high side. And like you, I think if bike track days were still held there I would still go. I could learn a lot and not spend too much money. |

Still driving my 1100 dollar MR2.
Best value/smile per mile car I've owned. Probably keep driving it until it gives up the ghost. Cracked the 200,000 barrier earlier this year, original engine and e'erthing. |

MR2s are really sweet. One of my friends autocrosses an aw11 4agze.
The newer body style is hideous though, illustrated here:

Not too special, a 1993 Civic sedan, with a built Integra GSR engine. I researched all the parts and put it all together, and tuned it. It's not perfect, but it's better than most around here. Unfortunately had to cheap out on a couple little things, so I'll be building another motor that will eventually go in. It will be 2.2 liter instead...when I get money to sleeve it and everything. If only I didn't get into bikes...

Cars are faster on tracks when railing through turns. They have 4 large points of contact and lots of power. I've seen the damage the prototype cars do to the Keyhole at Mid-Ohio. They corner like they're on rails, and they haul through those turns without any body roll at all. They're very fast. But however you look at it, bikes have the most performance for the money. Last time I checked, $15,000 doesn't get much car, but it will get you a really nice used 600 and new 250 with plenty of money for mods, or a brand new liter bike. |

And now to get back to the actual purpose of this thread I drive a 98 Chevy Malibu LS... not by choice really. It was just cheap, and I'd rather save money for a bike.

But it started when I accidentally named her, which is Muisha btw (Pronoucned Mo-EE-sha). She is an inside out orea, white on the outside, black on the inside. After that first came out of my mouth, I knew I was in trouble and was headed for an emotional attachment... But for the most part she's been good to me so I can't complain. And I beat the **** out of her every day. She's basically like an asian housewife, I beat her, she cooks me dinner and lights my cigarette for me I mean within a month of owning it, she got me threw a mud road with soft wet over the axel mud. (Apparently my GPS wasn't aware that I just wanted to go to the store.)

A lot depends on how tight the turns are... most road courses are not that tight... A well ridden street stock sport bike will smoke any stock street car on a road like "The Dragon" (Link > Tail of the Dragon - Deals Gap, US-218 - Estern NC & TN), 312 curves in 11miles - works out to one curve every 186' with many of the curves being 180 switchbacks with a 40' radius, back to back to back. I've seen bikes PASS Porsches and 'vettes on this road. Granted... I'm not sure the cars were well driven... but the bike sure was. BINGO!!!! The absolute most bang for the buck is the Ninjetee... look around and find one with damaged bodywork and pick up a NewGen for like $2000K. Nothing that is street legal even comes close.

And for the car vs bike debate, a bike can maneuver better in tighter spots and the power to weight ratio on a bike is better. I would put my money on a bike, especially if it's being limited to being a completely stock bike vs a completely stock car.

Yeah, you can't just hop on a bike and start dragging knees around corners. It takes time to learn the skills and to have faith in the bike. I am still a noob and have lots to learn! But realized a while ago that bikes are the way to go.
But don't get me wrong. I still love cars! Just not quite as much as bikes. |

But I'm thinking Prototype race cars or F1 cars vs MotoGP bikes. Those cars have downforce, they brake later, and carry higher cornering speeds than the MotoGP bikes. The first few posts in this thread are relevant and factual. The F1 cars corner faster. http://www.atomclub.com/forum/index.php?topic=3626.0 I know this whole quarrel is OT. |

Oh yeah I know all this! But it's not relevant to ME. What I care about is which will be faster in my life. What will be cheaper, faster, and more fun for me. The answer: BIKES! I will most likely never be able to afford a car that cost over $100,000 dollars and faster than a SS bike around a track. But I will be able to afford a ZX10r or similar, which will out perform almost any sports car in that price range. And then we get into the cost of trackdays and maybe amateur racing. Which will be cheaper: BIKES! More money for the track means more time on the seat getting experience which equals quicker lap times. So for me, bikes will always be faster than cars. (As long as my riding skills continue to improve.) |

Looking into picking up a 1974 BMW 2002tii for sale locally here.
(Obviously that's not the particular vehicle in question, but a good representation if what it could look like when I get through with it) If I do get it, I'll have two amazing vintage machines from 1974

Just picked up a used 06 Cayman S over the weekend. This car's sound is intoxicating. Power and handling are just awesome. This is my fifth 2-seater. I had 91 MR-2 Turbo, 99 Z3 Convertible, 04 Miata, and 07 Z4 Coupe before.

This hot rod. I know it's hard, but try not to be jealous. 270k miles on it, custom exhaust (because the original literally fell out one day), the left blinker stays on forever and it doesn't pass cali smog for ****. Uphill top speed is a sweet 50mph. Ladies. |

It's getting sold as soon as I get it to pass smog, which likely entails buying a 200+ dollar CA legal cat for it. And welding it in.
But it got me across the country, I'll give it that. xP Next car is going to be smaller but roomy. Some sporty hatchback or wagon deal. I can't live with 10-15mpg anymore. |
