Set tire pressures cold. Go ride. (Unless you have warmers, then ignore this part) Come back in and immediately check. Should be a 10% increase. If it doesn't go up 10%, let out air. If it goes up more than 10%, add air.

Even better if your at the track and one is available - go talk to the tire vendor and show him your wear and ask about pressures and feel and grip. A relationship with the tire vendor can be all kinds of helpful when it comes to diagnosing issues.

Check that one as well. Crazy Jack does push 'stones but I am pretty sure I saw the Pirelli vendor at TWS on Monday. Not sure who handles the Dunlops here now.

just picked up some warmers from a kid that is getting out of running the Moto America RC390 cup series, he told me on this tires hot off warmers the fast kids were using 25 PSI in the rear hot off warmers, so the same thing I heard 32/23 cold. or 34/25 hot he said the dunlop website is really high on the rear for whatever reason. Just thought I would throw it out there.

Dunlop guy at my track said 31 front/28 rear cold. Of course, YMMV but if there is a local rep I'd ask them! Came of the track with a perfect 10% increase in pressure once the tires warmed up.
We are lucky enough to have them at almost every event. On another note, very impressed with this tire combo. Stuck like glue and handled very well, IMO.

I don't recall but it seemed high 30-31 maybe, They claim that the pressure is needed to maintain carcass shape and hence proper footprint and a bunch of other engineer stuff but when it came to real world results we're at 24-26 rear off the warmers and 31 front off the warmers (172 degrees F)

I usually run the rear Alpha at 28 cold, but might try dropping it and see how it feels.

MA's Dunlop news release
Buffalo, NY: As part of Dunlop’s strategy for the continual improvement of its motorcycle racing tires, and in conjunction with its partners MotoAmerica, Dunlop will be introducing the Alpha-13 SP tire for KTM RC Cup competitors at Laguna Seca. The tire allocation for Laguna Seca will not be modified, comeptitors will still recieve 2 front and 2 rear tire stickers. The old compound tire is legal for use for this event. “Following some very positive early season testing with the new Alpha-13 SP tires, we are excited to offer this best-in-class new product to our KTM RC Cup customers” said Mick Jackson, Senior Manager - Product Development and Road Race. “For this introductory event we are pleased to help our customers with the cost of their tires by giving them the front tire free of charge when purchasing a second set”. |

The new tires grip better on edge. The old ones would slide controllably and predictably. The new ones aren't sliding as desired but instead chattering. MA confiscated the top 5 qualifiers shocks and tore them down. Gave them back with new fluid, bushings, seals and a charge so finding a set up was tricky with the limited track time we had left. I think once the rear is sorted these tire will work much better than the previous version.
