Fantastic A bold design. I'd like to think that Ethio would love it. That guy had one sexy ninjette! He had good taste.

I recently bought myself a nice new mountain bike. I've named him Ethio

I'm in for at least 3, but I'll wait for the final design to pull the trigger. Although I'm a designer, things like this upset me and makes it hard to complete. Wish I could submit something...

I like this. If the black can be printed another color so it will show up on a black background.

Ended up completely paralyzed after a track accident (practice round, IIRC). Last I heard, he was finally able to make some words:
http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=28718

My suggestion was something expandable which we could do for Alex, Jon, and any other forumer caught in a similar tragedy (God-willing, no more than them).

I just wanted to pay respects to Alex in the best way possible. RIP, Alex.

This thread is about Alex; not others who have been injured. While I fully support talk of raising awareness and support for other injured riders this thread needs to be about Alex (EhtioKnight) and only him. Let's get these stickers going I still want one of #32!!!

Complicated

This is a complicated issue. We are talking about how to add value to the life of a man who's life has ended, or in the case of Jon, who's life will probably never be the same. (I knew neither of these men personally, however I did have a couple positive exchanges with Alex on this forum.)

We are all a heartbeat away from being in a similar situation.

I don't think I would want people spending their time making decisions about sticker designs if it was me that had passed away. I am not trying to be disrespectful to anyone here.

My question to everyone is this:
What would these men have wanted us to do?

Does anybody know these men well enough to know what was really important to them and how we might impact their wishes when they cannot. Surviving family seems like a logical place to start. Charities perhaps.

Thoughts, criticisms?

Just talked to my brother, he said since he's been on vacation he has a lot of work that's piled up and wouldn't be able to finish the pic for a week so up to you guys.

I'd prefer a sticker of him dragging knee on the chair. imo just the helmet is kinda lame

No, there is a different thread for that. This thread is about doing something FOR Alex.
Thread title:
"Lets do something in honor of Ethioknight"
What I suggested:
Something in honor of Ethioknight.

This thread was created to discuss the sticker idea and that is exactly what I am doing. Creating another thread and another project is silly, dilutes the response, and that would detract from what we are trying to do for Alex. Even if the sticker mentions others, it was started FOR Alex. People inspire more broad responses often, like when everyone honored their fire departments and donated blood after 9-11. This would directly honor Alex. Now is the time to discuss it. THIS is the place to do it. Alex's legacy would live on with any others that the design incorporates rather than being largely forgotten when the forum has exponentially more new members (need an example?!).

Same here. I consider the image of him on a chair to be a part of his character and it says a lot more about who he is (not too serious and not only concerned about looking "cool"). There are probably many of the same helmet designs fitted with mohawks because they sell them at every dealer. Granted, he's not the first to drag knee in a chair either, but no one is going to mistake it for a random "cool" sticker that came with a motorsports product.

If we do use it, let me say one more time that we use a design without "KBC" visible in it. It makes it look like an advertisement and like it's not about Alex.

I think a sticker with him dragging on a chair would have to be a pretty decent size to get the details in. Personally I don't care about what others think of the sticker, even if they think I bought it at a store. I know what it's about and that's what matters to me.

As far as taking the KBC out and maybe putting Alex in, I'm totally fine with that as long as it doesn't look tacky. I just want to get this show on the road people and stop lagging it. Sorry jiggles but waiting for your brother seems like taking too much time.

I can imagine it, but I can't create it. Think of all those MLB-like silhouette logos for various things. They can show quite a lot with a simplistic design.

Edit: I noticed when searching for line-art helmets with mohawks on google that many gladiator-style helmets with mohawks look like an armored knight's helmet. Considering his username, might a similar design be appropriate?

https://www.google.com/search?as_st=...w=1366&bih=637

Edit 2: Perhaps a REALLY abstract one, like this:

As far as the sticker thing I'm going to wait for my brother to finish his design. No reason we can have 2 sets of stickers Plus I'm really not down for the helmet design. It just doesn't embody my vision of him as well.

The extra space on the bottom right is for text. I can add some fill to the chair and mohawk, but can't play with it until tomorrow most likely. Give me some quick text to add to it, if not, tomorrow we can finish this up (preferred).

Here is my 2 cents . . . I think we ought to start a new thread and only post how many stickers you want, then we can have a definite number count. It will be too confusing to go back over all the posts on this thread to get names and amounts, with a designated thread it should be easier. What do you think????

have been running a tally against 4 threads and i have close to 80 stickers.

i was going to start a new thread once we get some good designs.
will definitely do it tomorrow.

Has anyone met with his family? If we can get someone to open a bank account they can create a Pay Pal account and then we can start donating money. If there is no insurance they are going to need money for funeral expenses and we can start contributing to help out. With my parents funerals the funeral homes wanted money up front or their life insurance information before any arrangements were discussed, this alone could tap them out.

Not to throw a monkey wrench on the design, but what if the sticker was simply his mohawk helmet sitting on an empty chair?

That's what comes to mind when thinking about him not being here. Kind of like a fallen solder. No more Ethioknight in person, just an empty chair and mohawk helmet.

Sorry if its corny, but I think its a little more personal than just the mohawk helmet by itself.
