Have you posted a video yet. I've been pretty busy and haven't had time to mess with mine. Plus my carbs are acting up so its taking me longer than normal to accelerate.

I hate snow! I've enjoyed the warm and tame winter we've had so far. I much prefer running and tanning and mountain biking and generally being outside without getting dry skin to the beauty of winter. Snow is fun, but sun is funner

I bike up and down the valley, and love the curvy scenic awesomeness. I'm more of a future Californian than a future Floridian. Last time my family visited LA, I absolutely loved it

You could fall asleep at the wheel in Florida, and be fine.

I'm joking of course.

Which is why I wear mesh and not leather. I've seen the humidity exceed 100% and not rain. But the humidity is good for you. It keeps your skin from dry cracking. Its also good for certain fish. We have one kind that when the humidity is up, they will come out of the water and walk around. Seriously, look here.
And here...

I was the same way when I lived in Tennessee for two years. The temperatures weren't that bad, but it was always cloudy - even in dry weather. The sun came out like maybe a week during the summer and then it was back behind the clouds. The sun shines here every day - usually even during bad weather. We just had a cold front move through yesterday. Its supposed to be in the 70's today.

Yes, everything is mostly flat here. An overpass on I-95 is about as hilly as it gets.

well since we're still off topic, let's continue the trend

So I finally got out to do a 0-60 run and went through the video frame by frame. My 14/47 gearing compensates for my 130/90-16 height tire, and I timed from 0-63, which is what my speedo reads with a 100/90-16 front tire. My jetting wasn't quite right, and I launched from 5k, with clutchless shifts at about 13k. Got 6.73 seconds (6 seconds and 22/30 frames)

With my jetting improved, and a little work on launching (maybe from like 8k and letting out the clutch quicker?) I can maybe lower that time to about 6, but I think sub-6 is hopeful. If tomorrow isn't rainy and I have time, I'll give it another go, but if not, it will have to wait 3 weeks until I'm on Easter break.

Sure once I get it onto Youtube, and can cut down part of it. I really don't have any video editing software, so using Youtube to chop off the parts of video I don't like is as fancy as it gets for me.

Anyone know of any decent, free video editing software?

I will hop on the off topic train. Hehe.

Who cares if Florida is flat, it is a peninsula. So much water! Forget motorcycles get a Sea-Doo. That is what I would do if I lived in the sunshine state.

@nickjpass Oh and visit in like December. It is very nice then. But I like it year round. I love me some heat.

I've been to Florida many times, at every time of the year, every season. Most of my cousins live there. Are there any REALLY good ME colleges there? Like, MIT good?

What's the point in going to a REALLY good ME college?

If you want to go to college in FL there are plenty of fine universities and colleges there.

*cough
Ohio Northern University! Maybe not THE best place, but really good school, really good profs with a lot of connections, and like 95% of ME grads get jobs within 6 months of graduation. Not to mention we have grads all over the country who are more than willing to stick their neck out for you and get you on top of the applicant pile just because you're a Polar Bear

Good engineering program. Profs from tons of different places, and tons of different backgrounds. I guess you'll get that at any small university, but I'm partial to my school.

They likely would. Not really sure how that whole college class transfer thing goes though. You'd really have to contact someone in admissions about that or ask on a tour or something.

I know I got hours for my AP classes, but decided not to skip ahead classes because I didn't want to get over my head. Not to mention, I won't say no to some gpa padding and review of some familiar material.

I started to get a sea doo. It turned out to be a bad idea and even the saleman at the sea-doo store told me a Ninja was a better deal. Basically, a sea doo sits on its trailer 99% of the time. In order to use it, you have to find a boat ramp somewhere and you also have to have a truck or SUV to get it in and out of the water. Not to mention they are higher maintenance than a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader. After you pull them out of the water, you need to hose them down after each trip to get the salt out of them. That takes about 30 minutes for each one.

As far as where you can take them, fresh water is mostly banned because of the South Florida Water Management District. No motorized boats on most of "their" fresh water. That leaves the intracoastal. But their they have about 5 different police agencies all sitting their hoping you will do more than the 5 mph speed limit or ride without your life preserver or whistle or flare gun. You can go out in the ocean when its calm. That's pretty much the only place you can open it up and do a little wave hopping.

Of course the government wants to tax your fun. You need a tag and license for the jet ski, the trailer and you have to pay a boat ramp parking fee - and that doesn't include the cost of the truck you need to haul it around and use the ramp.

The jet ski salesman pointed all that out and then compared that to a Ninja. The major selling point was that you can have fun on the Ninja the second you push it out of the garage.

Then there is the cost. To get a decent running used jet ski on a trailer costs about $3000-$5000. New is around $10K-$20K. So for the price of a good used sea-doo, you can get a brand new Ninja. Once I did the math, there was no way I could even consider getting a jet ski.

University of Central Florida is a good engineering school and has kicked MIT's butt in a few engineering challenges over the years.

Yeah I know all the bad sides of owning a boat. But I still want one! I would still keep my motorcycle as well, because of the reasons you mentioned.

Renting one is always an option. You don't have to worry about all the negative signs of owning a PWC. And it may even be cheaper in the long run. It probably is. I don't know how much it cost to register and insure a PWC but I bet it costs quite a bit.

But I think having a boat or PWC would be very fun to have in FL. If you lived near the water that is. My Dad has a house in the St. Pete Beach area. Well like 10 minutes away. So for people in that area owning a PWC or boat would be worth it. It would get more use than someone who lived a couple hours away from a nice boating area.

I wish I lived in FL but apparently there are no jobs down there? Once I finish up college I may see how the job market is down there. If I could get a job down there that might be nice. I hate the cold!! And Memphis isn't even that cold. I don't know how you people up north deal with it.

I guess it's easier to own them on fresh water...here at my local lake, no one really cares how fast you go!

Renting one is expensive too. About $75 / hr. I assume that includes fuel. It takes about half an hour to get out to the ocean where you can open it up. So a day of fun costs about $400 per person. But that is still cheaper than buying one.

Jobs in Florida? Not unless you are in the hospitality/hotel/restaurant business. There used to be some construction jobs, but those evaporated too.

I would ride a cbr250r. Until the first time I go WOT and it feels like nothing is happening because I'm already used to (but not completely bored of) the power of my 500. Whoops I think I'm too on topic...
