The difference is the looks and sound. For the sound difference you'll have to go on YouTube and compare.

Slip-on's are all pretty much the same. It's just a perforated tube (the diameter depends on the what the company decided on) that is wrapped in fiberglass packing (to muffle the sound a little) and is put in a canister and attached to the exhaust system.

Basically, this just allows the exhaust gasses to flow straight through the can, while some of the sound goes through the perforated tube, and is muffled by the fiberglass packing. Hence, muffler

nope not hard. Just take off the old one, and install the new one. Any slip-on you buy should come with instructions.

For a general idea, check the new-gen wiki for DIY threads on how to install exhausts. I think there might only be entrees on how to install full systems, but you'll get the idea if you only read the part about taking off the oem can, and installing the new can.

YES!!! I like my hearing. I have great hearing since I'm 19. I want to keep it that way. Not to mention earplugs really make riding less tiring. Try them out and see for yourself.

I ride without ear plugs as well... Especially at freeway speed, I hear the wind more than the exhaust...

^^ and the earplugs will take care of that. Most of the fatigue due to noise is from the constant wind noise. Just try the earplugs once. You'll love it.

I love mine...its got a mean sound to it, and the louder the better for me. At least people hear me now on the road.

yeah the stock sound is bad, and i don't like that whistle type sound coming from the engine, the exhaust covers that up.

Gratz on your 250R and its new exhaust!

As for the Idle speed.

Warm your bike up for 2-3 mins, or until you can run the bike WITHOUT CHOKE ON.
Then go for a NON-STOP RIDE (Highway) for at LEAST 10-15 MILES, to fully warm the engine.
Then pull into a gas station or a safe parking lot with the bike running, put in NEUTRAL.
Now check your RPMs while its at IDLE. Is it still 2,000 RPMs?

Just turn that black knob on your leftside (near your calf muscle) until the RPMs IDLE @ 1,500 RPM.

Now your IDLE is set!!!

Note: If you suddenly get COLDER TEMPs, you will have to readjust the IDLE SPEED to help your bike warm up better/faster. It is spring though, so unless you live in a COLD STATE like me, Michigan... youll be all set!

Oh, and weeks or months from now, if your IDLE SPEED makes your bike DIE no matter what your choke does, then your Carbs might becoming clogged. So BUY a can of SEAFOAM 16oz. $10 and pour 4 oz. into the gas tank. then completely Fill your gas tank with fresh gas. Then once you get the bike to stay running, go for a Lonnng 150 MILE RIDE!!!
The Seafoam should clean your carbs interally by then. IT DID FOR MY 250R.
But, keep adding 4 oz. of Seafoam for EVERY FULL TANK OF GAS or fill up, until you use all the seafoam. Your carbs will thank you.

I say this from experience and if the Seafoam works to get your bikes carbs cleaned and your 250 is running, idleing, reving like new again, you just saved yourself the PITA and time from taking the bike apart to remove and clean the carbs yourself. Or worst yet, PAY the stealership with your hard earned money to clean the carbs for you!

If the Seafoam didnt clean the carbs and your bike is running like ****, then the Carbs need to be taken out and Cleaned. Or its something else like valves are outta spec/etc.

Very much so!

I have 2 helmets.

2010 Bell - Vortex (MED)
2009 Scorpion-exo700 (LG)

my scorpion is a much more quite helmet, but I still wear my earplugs.
my vortex is awesome for summer riding, as its vents flow a **** load of air through the helmet. But the vortex is LOUD, even with the vents all closed, its still too loud. My ears ring bad if I wear the vortex to work, without earplugs. And ride to work is only like 7-8 miles!

when I first got my vortex, i went on a group ride. 70 miles i rode just to met the rest of the people. when i got their, my ears were ringing soooo badly it hurt. one of my friends gave me an extra pair of earplugs. Boy was I thankful.

Lesson: NOT WEARING EARPLUGS is just as bad as listening to your favorite music LOUD, but worse riding a motorcycle creating fatigue issues over a long or even a short trip.

Its your choice! But I for one, always wear mine

It's a deep loud growl. I'm thinking about getting a baffle. I'd rather it be loud than sound like a sewing machine (stock), though.

I'll be shimming needles, removing Kleen Air system & possibly the snorkel this weekend...i'm getting the popping or backfiring sounds when decelerating.

I have the same DanMoto Jisu with the baffles and it sounds great. I would say it's "almost" as deep as some Harley's.

I also pulled the snorkel and had shimmed the carbs. The snorkel I think might have been overkill though. Makes the bike more "buzzy" and slight vibration in the handle bars.

Did you replace the filter with a K&N?

I removed the snokel and put in a K&N and if anything the sound it makes is a dlow "purr" or growl

I'm still using the OEM foam filter. I cleaned it and re-oil as per the service manual. It does sound good, just seem to have that extra "buzziness" you can feel.

Look into the K&N Drop in filter for our bikes, it goes right in the same spot the stock foam filter goes and is A LOT LESS restrictive, and it gives a nice sound to the the bike when you twist the throttle

Yeah I read the snorkel removal is probably unnecessary, however, the Kleen Air removal should fix (mostly) the popping/backfiring sounds when I decel

I kind of like the popping sound on decel. It sounds mean like vrooooooooooom.......crackle crackle pop, growl.

When my bike was stock, it ran so smooth that at stop signs and lights I couldn't feel any vibration like the bike was off. The exhaust made it sound way better and no micro vibrations until I pulled the snorkel. Pulling the snorkel definiately made the bike feel like it had more power though. Could be a trade off.

I'll try that K&N filter. The vibration could be coming from the air flowing through the airbox. I checked all my mounting bolts and checked for anything "loose", but all were fine. I might also try to re install the snorkel to see if that is the sole source.
