Everyone gives the same answer, "I just want to feel safer on the highway with a little more power to pass cars", or "A wider tire is more stable"...blah bla blah." At least be honest with us all and just come out and say, "Hey, I want a bike that can hit 140 in 6 seconds, while pulling a wheelie." I would at least respect that answer more. Has there been time where I wished I had a 600 or larger? **** yeah there has, but then I come back to reality and remember just how much insurance is on one, as well as the cost of maintaining one, plus I know that I am an adrenaline addict and it would be hard to contain myself on a larger bike. If your reasoning for wanting a 600 or bigger is because would want to look cooler with a fat tire on the back and can hit 150 if need be, then you probably should be the last person to own a motorcycle. I have never had an issue flying past cars on interstate on my 250. I definitely have gone fast enough to go to jail as well (yes, was a poor decision). If you can't get it done on the 250, your not doing it right and if you are not doing it right, you are not experienced enough to own a bike that is like having at least two and half 250's slapped together.
Well said.
New riders will try and say whatever they can to justify buying a bigger bike,
they think people drive faster in >Insert any town in the world<.
While they wobble along at 85mph, sitting in a cars blind spot, with no idea what their bike is actually capable of.

Buy the bike that gives you the biggest boner.

but its no good havin flash shoes if ya cant run.

The truth is you don't need to justify any bike because in the end it's what ever you like the most and have fun riding. It's like any other toy or gun or any thing else in the world.

lets compare it to guns

little johnny has had his .22 target pistol at the range several times. he feels that it emasculates him because its "just a little 22" and so he feels like he needs to go big or go home. so instead of going to something a step or two up like a 9mm for example, he decides to go buy an uzi. he also wants to shoot it one handed, sideways. and he is standing in the range stall directly to your side.

maybe you can see the point i'm trying to make here.
