Kenji: It's not so much that the black fades, it's that the 'anodizing' flakes off.

Will you be bringing JUST the wheel in yourself? If so, I believe it's 1/2hr labor, so 42.50+tax.

Also so you know, they do free installation if you buy a tire from them. It might be cheaper depending on where you buy it from the internet.

I have those ASV levers with the wheel adjuster. Their good, just need to get used to the different feel at first.

katherine, considering it is a commuter bike, the mileage is not bad. still, if it were me, i would hold out for a bike with lower mileage.

Installed my clip ons today. You can read my little blog about it here:

http://imgur.com/a/5z53J

**** this weather though. RIGHT when I finished it, it started raining. The roads near my house were DRY for once. I was taking a corner over a crosswalk and did the little wiggle when you lose traction. Except this was a lot more violent and almost threw me over the bars :<

Okay, my fellow Hawaiians....WTF is up with the roads in Hawaii? I can understand how they get bad (potholes and stuff) in the states that it snows in cause of the plowing but I don't think I've even seen them as bad as they are here. What's the deal? Y'all must be playing dodge the potholes a lot.

Oh, I saw a female (well assuming it was a female) on a pink-what looked like a ninja-today on my way home from Schofield.

Yeah that was me.. I'm so lazy I haven't reassembled my riding jacket. Only reason I was on the freeway in the first place though was because I was late. Ended up being late anyway because of the street sweeper.

Well after much debate and long hours of searching I found the helmet that I want!
The main reasons, it's Hi-viz!!! (that was #1) I don't wanna give anyone a reason for "not being able to see me". Plus, I really wanted a helmet that had the drop down internal visor. (this was a P.I.T.A. to find with everything else I wanted) Plus, I love the easy switching for the outer visor....and it has a airfit technology for a more personalized fit. I'm pumped. (hehe) After I get my helmet my old man said I can sign up for the MSF!!! Oh, orders some boots (street shoes) today too. The bad thing of all of it...I tried to order from RevZilla today and when I put in my address it added $25 for shipping. WTH!

The lid...(ordering on the 1st)

Ordered boots...

i dont remember how long it took, but it was decently fast. BTW, no free shipping to us. its $20. but the savings still makes it a reasonable deal.

For me, no riding this weekend..very busy

@Kstorm21: That looks like a decent starting point. slowly get your gear as you save up then when you get your bike, you can just go for a ride

motorcycle superstore is $10 shipping on any order. also $7 pre-paid label for any returns. no hassles.

beside the helmet, which i bought locally, i think i had to exchange almost every piece of gear because of fit. the manufacturer's size charts are way off sometimes. that cheap return price came in handy. to save time, sometimes i ended up buying two sizes at the same time and seeing which one fit better, then return the other.

motorcycle gear has some good deals and a pretty easy return policy too. http://www.motorcyclegear.com/ they give a shipping discount. if the item is light enough, the shipping ends up being free. they give UPS ground and USPS as options.

revzilla is ok. they carry brands the other two don't. will only use them if i can't find what i need from the first two. i think shipping is more and returns are more costly. can't remember the details.

i use motorcyclegear.com, motorcyclesuperstore/motosport.com.

your best bet is to just email there customer support dept to get the exact shipping amount...

if anyone needs new tires i found 2 websites that have cheap shipping to hi
cyclegear.com($60)and chaparral-racing.com($50) for a set of BT-023s for my cbr

chaparral is 216+shipping and cyclegear is 250+shipping

dealers here charge like over $400 for tires w/free install, so even with the installation cost it'll still be about a $100+ cheaper

Yeah these guys are awesome i just ordered a pair of AGV sport dragon gloveshttp://www.motorcyclegear.com/street/closeouts/gloves/agv_sport/dragon_motorcycle_gloves.html

and when i finally received them after a few rides i realized that the right hand glove had a manufacturing defect, apparently whoever sewed the thumb on apparently thinks your thumb is in the middle of your palm.... so i basically started a return process. the best part is that theyre doing a cross exchange so while im sending the first paor back to them theyre sending a brand new pair to me

Yeah, I emailed revzilla and they told me they would price match the shipping cost from Motorcycle Superstore. No biggie....I ordered them from MS for $10 cheaper with shipping before you even calculate shipping at revzilla. (does that make sense?)

Nope, wasn't able to sign up for that class. Hopefully gonna order my helmet on the 1st and then sign up. Let me know how it is. What are you riding there?

the initial shipping thing is one thing. if you need to return stuff, motorcycle superstore and motorcycle gear is better imo. i don't think revzilla will match the return shipping costs. then again, it has been a while, so i don't remember the details.

but yeah, i use revzilla too.

On top of breaking in your gear that your gonna be wearing in the long run, Wearing full gear during the MSF course will also introduce you to the uncomfortable position of sitting still in the baking sun, in a controlled enviroment of course.... Safety first!!!
