No, I've never had problems during the meetup rides on the 250. Haha, my biggest problem was on my first ninjette ride when I realized that I needed serious help with cornering. I signed up for the advanced cornering course with apex at Potomac Mills which helped a lot. Still not happy about my confidence on blind turns, so debating on where to go next. I should go out and practice on my own... But I'd rather just take a course.

I went with the monster because of I struggled on the highways in the ninja 250. Glad that I made the change. Anyway, I went on the sonic ride with vsr this past Sunday. Groups were split into three for the morning. Felt fine in the middle group. The first group goes fast and the last group had new riders. So it was just right for me.

90% chance of rain on Thursday. July 2 is today.

SUP YO I'm back in business!!!! Who wants to race me?!!?!

Jk I ride like a pussy with this monster between my legs.

Anyway I'm off to get my temp tags tomorrow and after that if I can ditch the S.O. for a few hours I'm down for a ride.

Assuming I'm still allowed to be part of the cool club although my new bike is not cool around here.

Well I've only gotten up to 2nd gear and like 25 mph because it has no tags and I just test rode it in an alley and some side streets. But it feels RIDICULOUSLY fast coming off a 250. Super smooth, pulls like a freight train, snappy and responsive and oh my god it looooves to flip itself around little corners (or are those the brand new Metzler M3 tires?)...

This one is a 2003 with 10,622 miles, lowered about 2 inches, yoshi exhaust, new tires, fresh fluids, frame sliders, bar end mirrors, fender delete kit, comes w scooped out seat, front stand... stole it from the guy for $2200, it was owned by his girlfriend who decided she wanted a faired bike and didn't want to bother dragging it on their upcoming cross country move.

The only thing I don't like is the dirt bike style handlebars, they feel a little too wide for me, and the mirrors aren't as convenient as the 250.

Congrats!

Get the inspection done asap. I did mine a few weeks ago for the Ninja 250 at Graeves in Olney for $59.90.

Inspection soon! My friend just bought a CBR 1000rr and got his done for $48 and after seeing my bike he guaranteed it'll pass. Temp tags are $20 so at least I can ride before I get it inspected.

Is the bike killer still driving her car on your street? Don't push your luck!

Also we got some serious winds today. I was driving home during the start of the storm and was paranoid that my Monster had been blown over.

I thought I was getting a deal for $59.90. I paid $75 in 2012 at a local auto shop in Germantown.

YES I think she is. I didn't lock the steering on my bike today. Which means it's super easy to just roll down the street. My neighbor has a little concrete platform set back from the curb with a little ramp on it that he said I can park my bike on, anytime. He doesn't use it. It's not big enough for a car. So I might start doing that, only thing is it's under a lot of tall pine trees and occasionally they drop heavy branches.

My friend's 250 got knocked over in the front yard by the wind today. Luckily mine was parked with the wind blowing against the kickstand so it couldn't have pushed the bike over, also it's a little heavier, but it would have sucked if it had fallen. It would have been pretty on point though, following with the tradition of all my bikes hitting the ground the first day I have them lol.

Glad your monster is ok! I paid $70 last year but my friend said this guy will just look at it and test the turn signals and pass it haha.. I do actually want it inspected though to make sure I didn't miss anything.

I'm out. I don't think I'll get my monster on the road in time. But you'll have one less fawn to worry about between Barnesville and Dickinson. I was on Big Woods Road after work and had a fawn bounce off my front tire. I'll post pics in the crash forum. I never lost control but it looks like the poor girl (or guy) died instantly. It just ran out of the trees, and I didn't see it until after I nailed it dead center. I guess I got really lucky. Damn, I wish I had a gopro set up.

My front brake stopped working after hitting the fawn, but I made it home alright. I filed a claim with GEICO because I'm guessing that it could get expensive. Air got into the brake line? I don't know what else is wrong. Not sure if the rotors are out of alignment. Forks? The wheel is probably fine. But I hope to have it towed to Battley since it's the closest Ducati dealership in the next couple of days.

What front brake? It takes about 4-5 pumps to get it to catch the front rotor.

I've hit potholes where I've felt that I was going to lose it. The oddest thing in this incident was that I nailed it and it bounced off like it was nothing. But I was going at a decent speed, and I have no idea what to look for. So it's probably a good idea to take it to the dealer.

Um, I left the fawn in the middle of the road. I didn't want to touch it, and it was too big to push with a stick. Hope the coyotes get to it tonight and move it off the road.

Have you taken a look at it? How do the brake pads look? Is the rotor damaged? Any rips in the brake hose/line?

Poor baby deer

It all looks fine. No leaks aside from some initial fluid between the brake hose and caliper. Although some of that fluid might have come from the deer... I didn't flip the deer over. But there was absolutely no blood on the motorcycle or on the road as far as I could tell.

If this were my old ninja 250, I'd bleed the front brakes in time for some group rides this weekend. But I'm hesitant just in case there's more serious damage, especially with the ABS sensors.

Hmm, if fluid leaked out, air might have gotten in.

Good call taking it to Battley.

Managed to do 110 miles today. Really need to re-align the bars and soften the suspension, but otherwise it was nice. My first actual 'ride' instead of 'commute/errands' on the SV650. I went around River Road and White's Ferry Rd area. Two birds flew into me at high speeds and a cat ran across the road and there were some turkeys in the road. No close calls except the birds, poor little things, I felt them hit my foot. Weather was perfect today. I should bring my SLR and take some nice photos but I'm always too busy riding to stop!

Recently took the lowering kit off my 08 Ninja. If anyone in the DC area needs it it is for sale! I'd be willing to deliver based on where you are located - I'll be riding back roads all day in VA tomorrow and Saturday.

Yeah, I got mine about 2 weeks after the test ride. Brought a friend with me too and he got in on the free ride and gift card.

It was a pretty cool experience going from a 250cc bike to a 1700cc one. Those indian cruisers sure didn't feel sluggish in the least

Had an awesome last minute ride with @Sirref around Point of Rocks, some random roads in VA (Lovetsville or something?) We managed to survive a 3-4 mile road that was entirely gravel, that was quite an adventure and my first time on gravel on the 650... We also found Thurston Rd and Park Mills Rd, and we met a cool guy on a new BMW ... I forget the model but it's the 80th anniversary one that looks a lot like a Ducati 696 from a distance! He rode with us on a loop around Sugarloaf Mountain.

There were lots of bikes out! I'm down for the same area ride next weekend if anyone wants to come, Thurston Rd and Park Mills and some places in VA have awesome curves!! It was my first time really figuring out my bike with the suspension set the way I want it and the alignment adjusted and the weather was perfect!

it was a bmw nineT

pretty sweet bike and it sounded great, the guy had a ton of carbon fiber parts on it too

next time I'm down there I'll need to ride the path down to the water and chill there for a bit, maybe bring a snack with me though I don't want to ride that much with a backpack on (maybe time to invest in a tank bag? after I get my new chain ofc)

Hey all just wanted to introduce my self. New member here but I have had my ninja for about a year now. I am from Silver Spring, MD and mainly ride 28 towards Lovettsville, Middletown, Leesburg, Blue Ridge Mountain, or Charleston. Let me know of there is a group ride coming up. I would be glad to ride with some fellow ninja riders.

^That's where we were today! Welcome! I work in Silver Spring. Maybe you can lead a ride and show us some of those roads. I don't have a ninja, though.

I would love to. Those are my favorite roads. I have 2 bikes in the stable so I will either be on my fz07 or 300. Depends on how I feel that day 8). Anyways I am down for a group ride. Just let me know in advance so I can clear my schedule. Weekends work best for me.
