I think if no better pictures come though, this one should win. On grounds of technicality

@ManyCavies: Please edit your post and remove the 'next challenge' so it doesn't confuse the other Picture Game players.

Uh it's a fountain with a cascading waterfall as part of it. There is clearly water falling over those rocks. Not everyone lives in the middle of Yosemite but that doesn't mean they can't find ways to play.

Oh yeah, missed that: there appears to be little cascading water falls down the sides of the structure. Did you miss that too "A"?

Do we need to look at a definition of a waterfall?

A cascade of water falling from a height, formed when a river or stream flows over a precipice or steep incline.

Do you get any result from searching images of "waterfall" that resemble a fountain that's less than 10ft. in vertical drop? I don't think so.

Would you call a water fountain with some cascading water as a waterfall? I don't think so.

If you ask me, Id say it's a lame attempt to find a waterfall. If the tag has sat for a week or longer, maybe people can vote for it. At it sits now, no way that picture resembles a waterfall.

Ok, chill lol! No need to be rude about her attempt. She still went to the effort of riding out to that point even though her picture submission doesn't count.

Also: It's 72 hours per challenge; not a week. When that period is up (on Wednesday) you'll need to set a new challenge to replace this one.

Who made up 72 hours rule?

Does everyone agree to adhere to that rule?

Why can't people just use common sense for this game?

Obviously the players have different definitions of what would fit in to "common sense" that's why.

It was the time limit we as players agreed on. We agreed to extend the original rule of 24hrs to 72hrs to make it a little more fair while still keeping the game moving. In a couple more weeks when winter truly sets in up north I had suggested we then extend it to 1 week until spring returns. I have not gotten feedback on that part, but most agreed that the 72hrs was good.

Maybe if you payed attention to this thread instead of just criticizing random posts, then you would've noticed the 72 hour rule was agreed on a while ago.

God damn it! Just post your f***ing picture and a new challenge and move on. This isn't that serious. I'm done with this game simply because of you people who can't leave well enough alone. Complaining about the "new" moderator(s). They are doing a fine job. Holy s**t, thats not a waterfall, it's a fountain that cascades! Who gives a flying f**k?!?! Just enjoy it. Remember people it's just a damn game!

Okay, sorry about that... Rant == Complete.

Also, in reference to the challenge... I believe the poster/winner had the say-so as to whether a pic met their request (if it was questionable). Since this is 'A's challenge, I think we should wait to see if someone else can better fulfill the request, if not then it would be 'A's call.

Did everyone agree? I dion't remember agreeing to 72 hour rule, why is 72 hour rule agreeable?
how many challenges have you personally fulfilled that you deserve to have the right to enforce that rule?

Thanks for the support, I would agree with you, but instead these dicisions tend to go the way of majority who seems to me have no right in deciding.
My criteria for the challenge were simple, your whole Ninja and a waterfall.
If someone posts a picture of their partial Ninja and a waterfall, that might be accepted... but a partial Ninja and a fountain.. that seems to me to be a lack of effort in understanding the challenge in the first place.
Sure ManyCavies rode out to take a picture, but seems to me just out of convenience that she passed by a fountian, so she snapped a pic.
Not asking whether her pic qualifies as fulfillment to challenge, proceed in naming the next challenge.
Anyone can just take pictures and post them, but I doubt that's the purpose of this thread.

The 72hr rule stays for the time being, don't like it, don't play. The rules this game was based on originally called for 24hrs. It was decided here that 24hrs was not enough, but that we should keep a time limit in order to keep the game moving. I suggested 72hrs based on manycavies suggestion of lasting the weekend. The feedback from a majority of the players was that this was a good time frame.

As for accepting/not accepting of the pic, that does rest on the challenger. If it's not what they challenged you to find then it's their choice to veto it or not. But do remember "A", you were asked if the waterfall had to be natural or man-made and you said you never specified. A fountain with water falling down over levels of various elevation is a man-made waterfall by definition. So please if you will, clarify what you feel is a man-made waterfall so others will know what you will accept.

Also please stop being so argumentative, disruptive, and attempting to control the game. To date you have been the most disruptive and argumentative to the game and how it's played. As before, if you are not pleased with how the majority wish the game to be played you are more then welcome to start a new game that you moderate with your rules.

@"A": you're a nightmare lol!

Just to be clear for all those still playing, the current challenge is:
Your whole Ninja with a waterfall in background.

You have until Wednesday at 17:47 GMT+0 to complete the challenge.

I really wish I was back in the states and had my bike already. In the spirit of this challenge, I looked up waterfalls and was surprised to find there's one in Oklahoma about an hour south of me...and for everyone else, you can find them here.

On a side note, while this challenge does seem to be a bit crazy to fulfill, I think it helps go back to one of the main motivators of this game, which was to encourage people to get out and ride and explore by way of 2 wheels.

Josh, I understand your anger can make one snap and make a post of this nature. However, that form of post is in violation of the terms of use on this forum and uncalled for. I ask that you please edit/delete your post and apologize for the outburst. In the future please construct your rants in accordance to the terms of use on these forums and with more constructive criticism and less unrestrained venom. Thank you.

I apologize to both "A" and the players for this outburst and interruption in the game.

I don't see why you need to apologize for something you didn't do, nor is it something that you have control over.

Personally, I would have deleted the post, suspend the poster for a week and give him a warning not to do it again.

Also, the only person that has that power is Alex. All I can do is put in a request to the poster or alex or in a worse case scenario, flag the offending post for alex to review.

I apologize for I am trying to keep things smooth and rolling while acting in a moderator type roll. I felt that his post was uncalled for and deserved an apology to both you and anyone that might have felt offended by it regardless of who it came from.

So the challenge is a waterfall? What qualifies as a waterfall?

That's the problem here "A", we have and apparently it differs from your definition. By the technical definition of the term waterfall, ManyCavies picture would qualify. However, by your definition it does not. Which is why people are asking for YOUR definition of a waterfall since a picture that includes an example of the technical definition of a waterfall does not meet your standards.

Quote:
wa·ter·fall
   [waw-ter-fawl, wot-er-] Show IPA
noun
1. a steep fall or flow of water in a watercourse from a height, as over a precipice; cascade.
2. a manner of arranging women's hair, as in long, loose waves.

World English Dictionary
waterfall (ˈwɔːtəˌfɔːl) [Click for IPA pronunciation guide]

— n
a cascade of falling water where there is a vertical or almost vertical step in a river

Medical Dictionary

waterfall wa·ter·fall (wô'tər-fôl')
n.
Blood flow in vascular beds where lateral pressure greatly exceeds venous pressure and tends to collapse vessels.
There are you dictionary meanings of the term waterfall. And here is an example of a "man-made waterfall".

I used that just as an example of how different people's image/definition of what constitutes a waterfall can be.

That's what I am saying! Check out the early thread challenges. People just got the picture and didn't argue about water falls. This isn't the norm, but maybe it is starting to be.

What is the new challenge? It is going to be beautiful where I live the next two days and I have a break from school, so I will be out riding. Give me a challenge and I will get this thread back on task! (If I can even compete in whatever the new challenge will be.) With this old challenge I am probably 5+ hrs from a natural waterfall.

LOL. With "A" and his technicalities I think you could get away with that! He did say to look it up in a dictionary I want to see that picture even if it's rejected. If you complement the woman with the waterfall hair you might come away with a phone number and a picture.

We should have a new challenge before then though.

It's been agreed that any Ninjette member can play even if they don't own a Ninjette... so you can go get it if you want.

There are you dictionary meanings of the term waterfall. And here is an example of a "man-made waterfall".

I used that just as an example of how different people's image/definition of what constitutes a waterfall can be.
If you are typing in English, I would think the Wolrd English dictionary's definition would be fitting.. but that's just me according to my 'common sense', which is not common according to some.

Don't understand why you would use a medical dictionary's diefinition, but that might be a cool picture next to your Ninja, too.

I would imagine the first image that you come across from a search of 'waterfall' is not the image you posted. But I would have accepted if someone posted a picture of their Ninja next to that 'waterfall', since water is falling from significant height.. not just some lame fountain that is not even taller than my height.

Next challenge: Your whole Ninja in a baseball/softball diamond
