everyone that has seen me has waved back down south, all except one guy. if i was down under and ppl kept ignoring waves, i would turn around catch up to em and at the light let them know that the next time they didnt wave a dingo would eat their baby!

Is "the wave" becoming a thing of the past? A quaint gesture that's falling out of favor?
I'm seeing a lot less people waving back now than I did when I started riding in the 1980s. Harley riders still rarely return a wave to a sportbike, but now a lot of sportbikes don't wave back either. And then there's all the scooters on the road, most of whom are riding in the gutter, weaving and and going so slowly the rider is obviously too busy to wave. Those guys don't seem to know there IS a wave. Out my way there are so many bikes on the road on the weekend that your arm can get tired of all the waving, but lately only about half of those initiated get returned. Are we seeing the demise of "the wave" as we know it? |

There does seem to be an affinity for old grey bearded Harley riders to flick the bird instead, seems to be a sign of affection or all that LCD has given them dementia.

Usually Im too busy dodging potholes, or flying around corners focusing on my riding... than to bust out a left hand to wave back!
So I just do the "Sup!" Head-Nod instead! |

Everybody should be waving and a Thanks to jpbear
Look my Ninjette borthers and sisters, motorcycling is, at least for most of us, more than just a form of transportation and THERE REALLY IS a certain amount of kinship, camaraderie, esprit de corps among us as a group. The wave is a sign of that and we all should recognize that we are part of a greater community and share “the wave” with all the other bikers out there.
The best wave is the left hand extended slight below belt level with the first two fingers extended , palm up or down (indicating keep the two wheels on the pavement or terra-firma). If you don’t get the wave back… so what… maybe they didn't notice you, maybe they had there hands full of clutch lever or were otherwise busy. As for the guys on the , I don't initiate the wave but I will return it, and for the occasional guy that gives you that very special middle finger salute… don’t worry about it. You make your own heaven, or hell… don’t let “the other guy” throw you into that hell. One way I make my heaven is by riding and experiencing "that freedom" and I sure aint gonna let some squid who's in his own special hell pull me out of my heaven. Life is to short for that... If you want to read more than you want to know about this look at the following link; http://cruiser.mototribe.com/discuss...rimarily-noobs Thanks and a special wave, to jpbear – post # 12 on this thread for the above link! BIG WAVE to all my www.ninjette.org brothers and sisters and I hope you get to ENJOY THE RIDE today as we rest from our labors. Chris - the “Old Guy on a ‘08”

Since our helmet law was repealed, that has changed to about 7 out of 10*. Mostly lidless harley riders that don't return a wave. The only lidless riders that wave back are old dudes (70+) on classic standards**, and squidly sport bike riders. *all statistics in this post have been made up to fit my anecdotal evidence. ** oddly, the old dudes often have a helmet hanging off the back seat, wtf, they must be on the way to pick up the girlfriend. |

I dont see the big deal about if someone does not salutes you then simply get on with your ride. as long as you are a well manner rider good for you the rude ones just let them be..

I wave my 2 shifter fingers or a nod. Depends on traffic conditions. I noticed people who drive Gold Wings don't wave. Maybe the bike is too heavy.

What tha?
I saw my name in the title of this thread! and had to clear my name in case I did something. Im from Melbourne, Australia. Here we dont wave, we nod instead, I comute to work on my bike 5 days a week. I nod at every sports rider, 1 in 5 will nod back. So 1 nod a day is not bad, I get 2 nods if Im lucky. On a serious note my nane is actually Tay, plain and simple and not shortened like Taylor. Update: Ahh, clever, I see what you've done

i have a white car as well. believe it or not, white stays pretty clean. it's not that hard to keep clean. a quick rinse and wipe down is all it needs between actual washes if you have a good wax on it. pretty much with any color. a quality wax is the key. i don't ride in the rain or anything; just on nice days. so it doesn't get that dirty. my bike was painted. before kawi came out with the stock white ninjas. so i had it painted pretty much as white as white can get; whiter than the stock se ninja with their pearl.
