Oh and the car I would want if all I had to pay was gas and insurance? Brand new shelby supersnake in deep metallic blue paint with a 6 speed manual transmission

I let off the throttle completely when I shift a manual transmission. My shifing is not jerky, it's very smooth.

you said this:

"With an automatic transmission, you can control the shift points with software. You can pick the shift points on the acceleration schedule so that you never close the throttle.

If you're driving a manual; you come out of 1st, you let your foot off the throttle, it closes.

On modern manuals, instead of the fuel shutting off right away, it graduates. The RPMs don't drop suddenly, they drop gradually. That's because they have a damper in it to prevent the throttle from closing too fast."

You said you let your foot off the throttle and the throttle closes. That means you are not pressing the accelerator at all. If you were pressing it even the slightest bit the throttle would not be "closed". Maybe I just read your post wrong.

Sorry if my original post came off a little harsh, I wasn't trying to argue with anyone, and I know it sounded like I was looking for a fight. It's just been one of those days.

Each person drives a manual a little different so for some it may be more "efficient" to drive an auto. For me, I've owned several autos that weren't driven hard at all and have had transmission problems out of all of them. My manual cars have never had tranny problems at all..that's why I like manuals better. They are so much more reliable in my book!

I like them. I think Ford is doing an excellent job in updating the Mustang. It looks so nice.

Has anybody seen the Abarth commercial? It's so awesome. I'll post the link when I'm not on my iPad.

Ugh, that thing is hideous. And it looks like the Mosler (also ass ugly) because the Mosler is based on a z06.

@Heed the ridgeline was designed by GM, in case it wasn't obvious. Mostly in exchange for Honda designing engines for Saturn. The reason it doesn't sell is because it's a terrible pickup. I remember reading a thread that made a pretty strong case for why the Odyssey is actually a better tow vehicle than the ridgeline. Sorry but that's just embarrassing if your minivan outperforms your truck in its own category.

Now who asked for car porn?

The C63 Black Series' 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 is an already legendary mill, and in this guise, it's damned close to perfection. All along the slight left-bending straight with its blind crest (just prior to dive-bombing into Turn Two on hammered brake discs), this large-of-lung naturally aspirated V8 belted out its soundtrack like opera. Its 510 horsepower peaking at 6,800 rpm and 457 pound-feet of torque maxing out at 5,200 rpm felt uncommonly flexible and at the ready.

Not saying the Merc isn't awesome, just the first thing that has come into my head every time I see the C class coupe.

eh. cars are starting to look the same to an extent. I'm not sure if it's the same designer, partnerships or just laziness. Maybe it's just becoming ergonomic. but they're definitely mimicking each other.

i also think that the Accord Coupe looks a lot like a BMW 6 series somewhat.

I can see why you say that, especially with those pictures. I think in person they look a lot less similar due to the BMW's size compared to the Accord. You're right about many looking similar. I am ALWAYS bothered by the previous generation Civic coupe and the Kia Forte Koup because it is such a blatant copy.

I agree.

I think it might be true that small 4-cylinder automobile engines sound better when the exhaust note is affected by having to flow through a turbocharger.

The opposite is true for really small 4-cylinder motorcycle engines (600cc or smaller) because they rev so high and freely. Nothing is more satisfying to the ear than snarling, lightning-quick throttle response.

I like manual transmissions. The only "slush box" I own is the Chev Suburban Turbo Diesel I inherited. My Vibe is a 5SP--1.8L Corolla Engine. It is very peppy as long as you keep your revs up--just like the Ninjette.

I will be getting a pristine Cadillac Allante Convertible with the optional hard top. It is a beautiful car with leather interior and a manual transmission. That car will be in storage during the winter.

I like Corvettes. I have had four and never sold one for less than I paid for it. If you take care of one, you will get your investment back. My son and daughter each own C-5s. IMHO, The Vette is a fine American Sports Car. The equivalent made elsewhere would be prohibitive in price. Sure, the exotic appeal is there--but for fun for the buck, a Vette is hard to beat.

Ahh, I haven't been following the Grand Am much

Looks good though. From what I've been told, the prototypes as a whole are changing this season.
