I'm curious Cuong. What brand of oil are you using? I've considered in the past having my oil tested as well but I find that it's cheaper just to replace it. I guess testing could provide early warning signs though.

Oh cool. My oil changes are pretty much the same but I'm at ~16k. I'd be interested to read your report.

Just finished an awesome track day. Got a bunch of pics and a couple vids. My friend is gonna touch them all up first. Can't wait to see. Now to clean all my gear and the bike, was a dirty, sweaty, hot day.

Replaced front sprocket with a 15t...the DIY on here is vague at best. Good luck if you change your sprocket.

27mm front, and straightening the washer is easy...just used a flat-head.
Loosening and tightening the nut is the hard part. It's on freaking tight, and with 1 person it's extremely difficult. I had a 2x4 through the axle like the diy said and still couldn't get it, so I got on top of the bike, stood on the rear brake and torqued as hard as I could, veins popping out of my arms and all. Finally got it though. In addition, putting the front sprocket on just by pushing the rear wheel as far as it will go is just about impossible...I had to take the axle out and drop the wheel and still had trouble getting it pushed in all the way onto the grooves. Then putting the brake pads back on the caliper properly was not working at all so I lined everything up and put the axle in from the right side instead. |

Time to place an order for a front sprocket and give it a go. I have to take the wheels off anyway to mount new tires. |

That washer is super malleable, but the bigger front sprocket makes it ride very nice!

Stripped off all fairings to wash and wax each piece. While she was naked I decided to remove the carbs for a rejet. After dealing with the damn airbox during carb removal I pulled it out.
Since I was not planning on removing the airbox I now need to order a pod setup, breather element, and dig through the jetting database again for a rough starting point. |

Yesterday I rode her to church, then to a terrible Mexican food restaurant where their enchilada sauce tasted more like barbecue sauce to me. Maybe I was just too white to eat there though... I watched a bunch of kids look at my bike as I tried my best not to regurgitate my meal then rode it to get a hair cut. After my strange hair cut, which included vibrating chairs, head massages, hot women and warm towels, I headed over to my friends house. Then I rode back home and had all the neighbor kids compliment my bike when I pulled into the driveway

Overcame concern over knocking bike over without stands and adjusted rear shock preload to '2'. (point of reference, I'm 175#, 6'0"). I didn't need to worry; all this talk on the tech forum about how the wrench might slip, it's tough to turn the first notch, etc. didn't seem to apply to my bike, or I got lucky.
I was tempted to jump straight to '3' but I have learned from years of simulation racing *never* to adjust things more than a little bit at a time. I'll give this at least a week of daily riding before even thinking about '3'. Stiffening the rear always reduces understeer and can provoke power-on oversteer in cars; I'm assuming the same is true here so I want to give it some seat time to see how it reacts. |

Went on a ride to Big Bear via Oak Glen road and Highway 38 Amazingly clear skies, and found out my ninja does just fine riding on packed dirt (complete road replacement on part of Oak Glen road) and it's more fun to turn around and cut your ride short when you've got THREE school buses in front of you Anyways, it's always a blast to go on a ride, especially with the roads we have here in socal

Cleaned the bugs off my '04. Went on a 300+ mile ride yesterday in southwestern WI hitting up the twisty alphabet roads (county roads) with a few other guys. Still managed to eek out 65.7mpg with all the thrashing I put the 'lil Ninja through.

Installed my Bohemian Racing Rearsets. Pics right after install.
The only issue I had with the install was the shift rod was too long. I had to use a dremmel with a cutting wheel to shorten the bolt at one end. |

Yeah I think I meant 5w40, do they only make T-6 in the viscosity? I didn't buy it because I wanted 10w for the bikes. Maybe next time around.

Yeah, T-6 only comes in 5W40 unless they have a secret 10W40 stuff unavailable to the public. I'm still waiting for my lab analysis report to come back from my oil sample I sent off last week.

Rode her to work! Gonna change the oil and ail filter on the 13th. Was a beautiful morning for a ride, and luckily as soon as I got to work the day heated up and I was in cool air conditioning sitting at my desk! I leave at 9 and should hopefully be cooler for a great ride home! Lovin' ma Ninjette!
